I talked with Karen and David Fuentes from Carson City last week. They sent me pictures of a nice stringer of rainbow trout they had caught . They were using salmon eggs or power eggs.

Carson River Fishing Report

The Carson was high all summer, finally coming down to rest over the last month. Fish are happy and flows are down to good fall levels. Spin fisherman using larger spinner and spoons have caught some good fish recently. Fly fisherman using small mayfly nymphs and midge pupa have been doing well under the indicator. Good reports of small macs at the moment. The cold temps are helping to bring the fish up. This is the best time of year to find larger rainbows and browns near the surface, making them accessible to shore anglers. Shore anglers are using smaller spinners for planted trout and larger spoons for larger rainbows and browns.

C& R Tagged Cutthroat From Lake Tahoe

Aaron was fishing from the North Shore on Lake Tahoe the other morning and landed this tagged Cutthroat. It was 18.5 inches and around 1.5-2 pounds. The fish was released safely back into the water.

First Cutthroat Caught on Tahoe Since 1900's

Monday update: One of the first cutthroat was caught today since the 1900’s! #shutupandfish Over fishing of the Lahontan Cutthroat led to the ultimate demise of the population in the late 1800’s. Earlier this month the national fish hatchery complex released 5,000 Lahontan cutthroat trout back into their native waters.

Lahontan Cutthroat Trout Stocked in Lake Tahoe Today

We had a incredible day first with flat calm water next worth wide-open Fishing. We had a great group of guys on our open load well 37 anglers and they caught limits a rockfish and limits of lingcod to 25 pounds we are off tomorrow but will be back The rest of the week if you’d like to come out give the shop a call
