Carson is Fishing Well

The Carson is fishing well but has been pretty crowded in the usual haunts. Flows are still coming down making some access points challenging. Spin fisherman using larger spinner and spoons have caught some good fish recently. Fly fisherman moving larger streamers through deeper water have caught some really healthy fish recently. Good to Fair Reports for Lake Tahoe

Good to fair reports of smaller macs trolling fairly deep. Cooler temperatures will help bring fish up over the next six weeks. Shore anglers are using smaller spinners for planted trout and larger spoons for larger rainbows and browns have been doing well.  

Topaz Fishing Has Been Well

Topaz has been fishing well, shore anglers with powerbait and boaters trolling flash rigs are doing the best. Most trout are around 12 inches with a few up to 18 reported. Crawlers off the bottom have also been productive early and late in the day. Fishing for trout should remain good and productive through fall.

Spooner Has Been Fair From Shore

Spooner has been fair from shore and good from float tubes or kayaks. The vegetation hasn’t taken complete control of the shoreline yet leaving some shoreline fishing access. Fly fisherman using callibaetis mayfly emergers late in the day are finding fish on the surface. Did a south shore Kokanee haul today. Easy to get but I’m not much of Kokanee fishermen. I love jigging for them but when no matter what size they are you know that each one will Essentially be the same I get to wanting something else. Topaz Lake Angler Report

Anthony checked in with us with a fishing report from Topaz Lake: Fished Topaz today for a few hours. Got on the water around 11am and trolled around for a bit. Great day, caught 14 pretty quickly, kept the ones we wanted then later during cleaning we got about a 8 lber that actually broke off but ended up in the other line and we got it but was ridiculous mess. Just tossed it back without photo!

Shore Anglers Doing Well on South End

The water level is up a little and the fishing is doing good in the morning and tapering off as the day warms. Flashers and a night crawler or Rapalas have had best success. As the day progresses, you need to get your presentation deeper. The shore angler shave been doing well on the south end of the lake with powerbait and floating night crawlers.

Carson River Nevada Side Report

The NDOW planted the upper part of the river by Ruenstrough bridge with rainbows and good sized brown trout last week. They planted the Carson City area with rainbows this week. David and Karen Fuentes from Carson City had good success last weekend near the broken dam area.
