South Fork Reservoir Report

There is NOT safe ice for ice fishing at South Fork.               After measuring from 4 different locations off of our boat ramp, we have lost .5” of the good clear ice. We are at 6.5” currently and 7” of slush on top. Sean and I will begin measuring twice weekly, since we will be getting warmer weather in the coming weeks. As always, please exercise caution when out on the reservoir. We will take another reading

Jakes Creek Reservoir has 7 inches of ice with 1-2 inches of snow on that

Jakes Creek Reservoir has 7 inches of ice with 1-2 inches of snow on that.  Fishing should be fair to good for trout up to 16 inches.  The road going in is snow covered with a few open patches of dirt and easily passible.

Jiggs Reservoir has 3-4 inches of ice

Jiggs Reservoir has 3-4 inches of ice with some variability across the reservoir. Fishing should be fair to good for trout and perhaps a couple of bluegill once the ice becomes thicker. NDOW recommends anglers stay off ice measuring less than 4 inches.

We have been receiving some pretty nasty winter weather this past week which seems to be doing good things for the reservoir. Measurement that we took today are showing 7” of clear ice and a top layer of about 5” of slush/cloudy ice. Remember, these measurements were taken around the boat ramp and are not intended to be interpreted as thickness for the whole reservoir.
