South Fork Reservoir Fishing Report

The southwest shore between Coyote Cove, Jet Ski Beach, and Fisherman’s Point remains at about 12″ – 14″ of solid ice. The areas of Tomera Cove and the Boat Ramp have 6″ – 8″  inches. Jakes Creek Reservoir has 14 inches of ice

Jakes Creek Reservoir has 14 inches of ice and 1 to 2 inches of snow on the ice.  Fishing remains fair for trout in the 10 to 16 inch range.  The dirt road going in has a dusting of snow and patches of ice, making travel is easy but slow. Ice fishing holes must not exceed 10 inches in diameter (NAC 503.583).

With warmer temps last week and forecasted again for next week, ice at South Fork Reservoir continues to be variable and unsafe in some areas.  Ice near the boat ramp is not safe and should be avoided. No recent reports, but expect 4WD conditions to get here. Water conditions here are generally similar to South Fork so there may be some open water for fishing. However, that may not be the case and even if it is, it won’t be long before it does freeze over. At last report, early November, fishing was good here but the lake level was still low.

After measuring for ice thinkness, we are currently at a minimum of approximately 6.5” of ice on Wild Horse reservoir when entering from the Wild Horse SRA boat ramp. Access to the Bruneau is now through Grasmere in Idaho

Access to the Bruneau is now through Grasmere in Idaho. Flows are low with the reporting station showing ice. There is lots of snow and ice. Expect fishing to be poor. There will be no more fishing reports until next spring on this water.

Flows are better below the reservoir and fishing is slow to fair

Very little change here as flows on the South Fork of the Humboldt are very low and fishing is difficult due to low flows and ice formation. Flows are better below the reservoir and fishing is slow to fair. As of December 2, the South Fork of the Humboldt was flowing at approximately 5.24 cfs above the reservoir and 8.1 cfs below the reservoir.

Jake Creek is ice covered with two to four inches of ice

Jake Creek is ice covered with two to four inches of ice depending upon where on the reservoir you are. Give this lake another week or two before venturing on the ice. Once the ice is safe, expect good fishing for 10 to 14 inch trout this winter.

East Fork Owyhee River Fishing Report
