Picking Up

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Plenty of open water for fishing though there is no report on how fishing is, but generally after ice out it can be spotty here with one day being good and the next slow. Worms or PowerBait are effective along with black and gold spinners. Fly rodders should be using chironomids, prince nymphs, hares ears, pheasant tail (PT) nymphs and wooly buggers in olive or

No News

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Thanks to the work done on Jiggs, the lake is holding water and is about a third full. Because it has been dry the past few years, there are currently no fish in the lake. NDOW is planning to stock it with trout sometime in April.

Good Fishing

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Very little change here as fishing continues to be good and worth the long drive. Harrison Pass is still closed due to snow and probably will be for a while. Plan on using Secret Pass. The collection ditch is open and fishing has been very good using a variety of flies, spinners and lures. Anglers report days of 10 to 30 fish, often catching nice

Ring of Ice

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Wild Horse is ice free south of the island off of the state park boat ramp. There is a ring of water around the edge and is fishable from shore. The wind is pushing the ice around which means that some shorelines will not be fishable as the ice is pushed towards it, while others are. The good news is that the winds are starting

Construction on the reservoir is complete and the low pool area even held some water after the rains earlier in the summer. Pray for snow next winter to fill it and if this happens then NDOW will stock it with trout, largemouth bass and bluegill in the spring of 2016. It all depends on Mother Nature.
