Good day on the lake! Had Harold, Mark and Mike from So Cal who fought the cold and got some nice fish up to 9lbs. Great job guys!

Some big boys and girls have been coming to shore this week and the winter storms have been bringing more fish closer the beach. Anglers are seeing quite a few fish in the 3-6lb mark with some standout 19lbers in the mix. Things are starting to heat up on Pyramid Lake. Recent storms have brought the fish in close and while air temps have been cold water temps near the shore have been in the high 30’s and low 40’s each afternoon. Anglers have been mixing success with stripping Boobies and fishing midge and balanced leeches under indcators. While searching depths with a floating line the RIO Midge Tip

The fish keep coming!  Lots of good sized fish being caught!  Both on the strip and the indo.  Love the storms for keeping the fish moving.

February fishing on Pyramid Lake has been similar to December and January, with quality in size being at the forefront rather than numbers; although when a storm blows in we do see the numbers jump up. It’s been cold so bundle up!

On some of these dreary wet days it may not seem like a good fishing season, but if you take a longer term perspective this is close to a perfect winter. ATTENTION ANGLERS: All fishing ponds at Mason Valley Wildlife Management Area are covered with ice for the opening this weekend. There is not much, if any, open water. The ice is thin and dangerous. Instead, we recommend you head to Topaz Lake (photographed below). We stocked it with 6,520 rainbow trout last week, and 4,365 rainbows this week! Enjoy!

Week 5 fishing derby was a little slow despite the good weather.  We have had 116 2lbs and over turned in so far.  Our biggest fish of the week was Bob Brister of Topaz Ranch Estates with a 9lb 4.8oz 26in rainbow.  2nd Place was Jackie Davis with a 7lb 6.3 27in rainbow.  We have been hearing that shore fishing is doing better then boat

Saturday started off slow and Mother Nature decided to rough us up a bit.  Once we got into some calmer water in the afternoon we started getting some fish.  Including Johnny and Zack’s largest trout they have ever caught.

US Fish and Wildlife Service will be planting about 124,000 Pilot Peak LCT (about 5 inches) at Blockhouse and Pelican over the next couple of weeks.

Fishing from ladders has become synonymous with Pyramid Lake. Specifically during the spring season, as temperatures rise and people come out from hibernation and begin lining up awaiting their chance to land a truly monstrous trout. On Monday, went out solo and trolled for a few hours. Landed 5 total, 4 were small stockers and 1 was about 1.5 pounds.  Trolled the north side of the lake with rapalas.  Water temp was 42.9 degrees and water was glass.  Spoke to anglers at the ramp and they worked the south side trolling nightcralwers behind flashers.  They picked up what looked like an
