Western Nevada Fish Reports

As the fish now remain in shallow water and paired up for spawn this can be a very fun but also frustrating time to fish here as you can see them but they can be very tight lipped. Truckee is Running High and Clear

As anticipated, the Truckee River is still running high. However, most of the water is coming from dam releases making the river run clear. The main game is still mostly nymphing or tossing streamers. With the continuing large water, big “attractor” nymphs like rubberlegs or worms have been best. No Wind, Great Action

Team Schear from Texas on the annual trout assault! No wind, great action. Lost probably 7 or 8 fish. Kept 5 Rainbows, and 6 macs and let go another handful of fish go! Action came between 6:45 and 8:45 am! Had cancellation for tomorrow.... who wants in?

LCT Spawn is Still Ongoing

The LCT spawn is still ongoing at the lake. Fish are shallow and cruising in schools. Some of these shallow fish are willing to eat, but they are few and far between. The fish holding off of drop offs more willing to feed. These are the ones you want to cast to. Weather has been beautiful, sunny and clear skies. This has made fishing more difficult.

River Flows Have Dropped

River flows have dropped a lot since our last report. Flows are above 3,250 cfs at the Reno gage. We believe that these levels will be sustained for the next few weeks. Fishing has been amazing! Mason Valley Wildlife Fishing Report

Kyle from Yerington, Nevada was out at Mason Valley hatchery ponds today and caught limits of trout today, 5 Rainbows. The weather was warm and the bass were big, but weren't bitting any of the spinners, jigs or worms we were using. Lots of people out fishing the hatchery ponds today, ran into a guy who caught a 4.5 lb. bass easlier with a frog
