Another stellar day yesterday on the lake. Had Marty and John out for a boat trip. Lots of hook ups with some nice fish landed. Including Johns 13lb tank! Quite a birthday surprise. Great guys had a blast!

Lots of fish moving in tighter to the beach. Good opportunity now for fly fisherman.Water temperatures have now reached the 52 degree mark and the big cutthroat trout have moved in shallow. We have been seeing fish to 14.5 lbs with some even pushing the 20lb mark. Popcorn Beatles, Midnight Cowboys,#12 Copper and Black Tiger Midges, Parallel Assassins, and Spruce-a-bu’s working well.   Call for more

Anthony fished Topaz again Sunday the 20th. It was windy and raining. Good chop on the water. Trolled for about 3 hours. Landed 5 and missed 3. All came on Rapala (3ft-5ft) down 3 on a brown trout pattern and 2 on shad colored.

Changed things up yesterday. Had Brian, Megan and Brian and had an exciting day trolling. Got plenty of bites and landed some nice fish. It ended up being the Megan show with the hot rod in the boat. Great day with some super people.

Beautiful day out today, between the storms............ Fishing should of been a little better.. landed four lost four We had FUN !!!

This January has fished well! In January 2018 we saw mild weather with warm temps making the fishing slow. January 2017 we had flooding resulting in lake closure for 6 weeks. This year the storms have been consistent making for decent fishing. Similar to December daily numbers are not at their highest but quality by means of size make up for it; big fish are

Good solid week on the Truckee River. Temps were much warmer and trouts seemed to respond to the warmer water temps.  Still cold in the mornings, expect that for January, but things have warmed up into the 50’s in Reno, 40’s in Truckee, most afternoons.  Those warm afternoons get the fish moving. We will have rain and snow this week. Still doing a lot of streamer fishing

First time fishing Topaz, caught two and missed one.  All trolling with Rapalas. Just moved to the area and looking forward to fishing Topaz more.

Hello fellow anglers, Fishing at Topaz Lake is off to a good start for 2019. The weather cooperated, with the only drawback was that the morning temperature on January 1st was 9 degrees at 6:30 am.
