Western Nevada Fish Reports

Yesterday the lake was fishing quite well! Kevin got into some very nice cutty’s even battling the cold.

Looking good on top. Guessing we got over 4 feet in most upper elevation spots this last week.  Maybe some more snow around the 10th, but for now, cold this week until the weekend.  Cold duster coming in mid-week, not much snow, probably just enough to mess up the driveway. Cold here in the Hirsch, not much snow, maybe a few inches hanging around.  We get shadowed

It is amazing that this is the 4th annual episode of the State of the Truckee River with NDOW Fishery Biologist, Travis Hawks. A little rain and snow for the Truckee River. Much warmer and much better fishing the last few days. We just needed a little weather to kinda stir things up a bit. Couple feet of snow up top and mostly rain here in the Hirsh. Not enough rain to blow out the river, but much needed. Flows are about the same as last week all over the

Had a great weekend fishing with Peter! Had many hookups and a rare double of 10 pounds of trout.  Have dates available in December.

Some real brute sized fish are showing up now and the bite is building.  Water temperatures have now reached the 52 degree mark and the big cutthroat trout have moved in shallow.  We have been seeing fish to 14.5 lbs with some even pushing the 20lb mark.  Popcorn Beatles, Midnight Cowboys,#12 Copper and Black Tiger Midges, Parallel Assassins, and Spruce-a-bu’s working well. Just getting started on what could be final run of 2018. 16 degrees this morning and couple weeks of weather in forecast I’ll pull boat and take week break and see where weather is at December!

Few macs for dinner today! Absolutely perfect day out. So calm! Rocco did a fantastic job fighting his fish that ended up being 10.3 lbs on the scale.

Fishing has really picked up from the shore!  Early mornings and late evenings the LCT have been moving into shore and are feeding heavily with the surface temps in the mid 50’s.  The fish are eating both retrieved flies and flies on a floating line with or without an indicator.  Moderately fast retrieves without pauses has been very productive with fish following flies right up
