Pyramid Lake Fishing Report

by PYRAMID LAKE STAFF
Stripers and bass have been biting very well over the past week both from shore and throughout the lake. Stripers have been seen boiling in the marina, Yellowbar, Bear Trap, and Spanish Point, biting top water baits, kastmasters, and baits like Sardines, Lugworms, and Chicken Liver throughout the day. Bass have also been biting top water baits consistently and also plastic setups to work through

Early Morning Rapalas or Thomas Buoyants

by DOUG BUSEY
Water level is way down.  For boaters, watch those willow bushes on the north end.  They are just visible above the water line.  Make sure to keep an eye on the depth finder as those places you fished a month ago, are at least 10 feet shallower.  Early morning Rapalas or Thomas Buoyants have been producing fish. Flasher and a worm have also been productive.

The Streamer Bite is Picking Up!

by MATT KOLES
Summer is gone on the Truckee River, and fall fishing now. Kids are in school, the burners are done, the last party of summer.  Time to get serious with some fall fishing. We’ll pretty much have an empty river now except for some weekends.  I’m guessing the flows will stay up out of Lake Tahoe this fall, but hard to say.  Regardless, I think flows will be

Things Sure Have Changed in the Last Week.

by MATT KOLES
Temps have finally cooled and we are having highs in the 70’s in Tahoe. I needed this and so did the trouts. Lows have been in the 30’s in the Hirsch, the heater is kicking on in the house in the mornings, fall is near. With the drops in temps its obviously cooled water temps. That has made the fishing very inconsistent this last week on the

Can’t Wait to Get on that Streamer Fishing Again!

by MATT KOLES
Rolling right through August on the Truckee River. Nights have cooled, but still warm/ hot afternoons.  We may get some highs only in the 70’s this week. Water temp is not too much of an issue these days.  Maybe along the 89 stretch, and downtown Reno, and Nature Conservancy stretch, but that’s about it.  That would be in the afternoons.  The whole river is in great

Good Solid Morning Fishing!

by MATT KOLES
Good solid fishing on the Truckee River. That’s in the mornings. Still very hot in the afternoons, cool in the mornings, and actually smoke free the last few days. Looks like we may have a cool down this week with highs back in the 80’s. Been hot the last 6 weeks. Reno set a record for consecutive days over 100. It was the hottest July on record

Pyramid Lake Fishing Report

by PYRAMID LAKE STAFF
Over the last week, anglers have been catching a decent amount of stripers around the lake off lures and frozen baits like Sardines and Chicken Liver. Smaller boils have been seen around the lake in the morning time by Yellowbar, Serano and throughout the marina as well. Catfish have also been biting from shore and out in coves around the lake down deep, bait and

Still in Great Shape!

by MOUNTAIN HARDWARE & SPORTS
Flows on the Truckee River are still in great shape.  Water temperatures have been on the rise with these warmer days.  Best times to fish are the early mornings, with the water temperatures being their coolest due to overnight cooling.  Success is being had nymphing in the faster riffles.  Fish are in these waters because they need the oxygen provided in this type of water.

Lake Tahoe Fishing Report

by DOUG BUSEY
Mackinaw Lake Trout fishing has been very, very, Tough to great depending on the Day.  We are fishing in 80 to 160 feet right now with Dodgers and Minnows or Flashers and minnows.  Bouncing bottom has been effective as they have begun to spawn and are territorial.  Bites are pecks or nips and 90 percent of them spit the hook upon netting. They are stuffed

Spooner Lake Fishing Report

by DOUG BUSEY
Located on top of Highway 50 between Carson City and Lake Tahoe. Samantha Duarte and her father Phil Duarte from Dayton NV fished the lake with great success.  Well for Samantha it was, she caught her limit of rainbow trout.  Phil did not tell me how many he caught, I have feeling he was to busy teaching, and just enjoying the moment. But what better

Mid Teener that Pulled Hard!!

by MIKE NIELSEN
Catch and release day aside from three I kept for friends. Ran across to north side for fair action early then bite faded so we came back south. Got into quick flurry that included this mid teener that pulled hard!! Still smoky but dead calm out there!

The Fishing is Good in the Mornings!

by MATT KOLES
A tad cooler, but still hot, and some days lots of smoke on the Truckee River. Sad for communities affected by the fires. I think most of Northern California is under a blanket of smoke. Some days are better than others in the Tahoe/ Reno area depending on which way the winds are blowing. The fishing is good in the mornings on the Truckee River. Crayfish, stones,

Bite is Strong!

by MIKE NIELSEN
Tahoe Topliners checked in. Nice string of Lakers. Bite is strong for about an hour then tapers!

Nice and Cool and Really Good Solid Fishing in the Morning!

by MATT KOLES
Morning is the best time on the Truckee River. Give yourself a break, it’s about 95’ish on the lower river in the afternoons.  100 in Reno. Nice and cool and really good solid fishing in the morning.  Hot and smoke in the afternoons. Kinda the way it is in the summer on the Truckee River. Crayfish, nocturnal stones, caddis and baetis should be in the nymph box.  Get

The Big Fish Barrage Continued Yesterday!

by FISH REPORTS STAFF
The big Fish barrage continued yesterday.  When lunker hunting 1-3 bites is good. We got 5 on and got the first 3.  A 13 lb released a 3 lb Rainbow then a 16 lb Laker that was taken for dinner.  Stretch em down and tight.  These things are pulling good as they are herding balls of Kokanee and chubs against structure!

Poles Were Dancing Early!

by MIKE NIELSEN
Poles were dancing early then we looked for Kokanee but got call from a buddy that got a 20 lb, 13 lb, 9 lb and 5 lb fish I pulled lines and bolted to the location. Im not one to chase radio fish or another’s action but glad I did today because as soon as we dunked lines we stretched tight on this lunker! Few pics

The Early Morning Bite has Been most Productive!

by DOUG BUSEY
The early morning bite has been most productive off the Cal/Neva point and the Tahoe City shelf area. Average mackinaw has been in the 1-4 lb range with a few in 13 to 15 lb range. Toplinning on the east or the west shore have shown some 104 lb rainbows. The kokanee have been showing up in various places on the lake, but only in
