Yesterday we had three of the four species available from Tahoe.  Kokanee are spawning or I would have tried for the grand slam.  Browns to 3 lbs, A Rainbow and great early mack action!  Browns and Bow were released and I should have got better pics.  Looking forward to next 30 days as bite should get great!

Good to really good up here on the Truckee River.  October is always a good month on the river as long as the weather cooperates.  It has, meaning we’ve actually had some weather.  Not an extended summer. I’m still spending most of my time on the Nevada side of the Truckee River, down lower in and around The Nature Conservancy.  Good stuff, big fish. I opened

Took out my wife’s cousins today. Absolutely howling east cold wind but got limits of Lakers and couple rainbows before we were numb!

Attention Winnemucca residents! Join us this Saturday at the grand opening of the newest urban pond in Nevada, James Kinney Pond. The opening celebration is from 1pm to 4pm on Reinhart rd (at the pond) in Winnemucca. We hope to see you all there!

First snow of year and a box o Mack’s!

Fishing has been rated very good with anglers reporting average cutthroat in the 16 to 26 inch range. There have been a lot of fish caught in the 4 to 10 lbs range as well. Boaters have been using black or purple jigs. Shoe angler have been using green stripped spoons on the drop offs.

Great day on the water with James and his son David.  Many nice fish caught including David landing a 10lb cutty.  Bite is solid landing over 20 fish and hooking many more!  I have dates available if interested. (775-622-5678).

East wind been howling this last three days.  Today’s group was fine going out and we jacked the Mack’s in an hour!!

Summer turned to fall on the Truckee River.  I needed it.  Ain’t easy catching trouts when it’s 94 degrees out.  Ain’t easy on the body either.  We’ve had clouds, rain, and even a duster of snow on the peaks.  The fishing is much, much better on the entire Truckee River. We’ve wrecked ‘em on the streamers a few days last week on the lower river.  Clouds
