Lake Tahoe Fishing Report

by DOUG BUSEY
The Cave Rock launch is open and clear, that being said you need to watch out for "Ice Build Up " first thing in the morning on the boat ramp from folks not draining the trailer before pulling out all the way. Trout fishing has very good to awesome on Lake Tahoe at the north shore, Cal Neva Point, Tahoe City Shelf, and over by

Topaz Lake Fishing Report

by DOUG BUSEY
The Topaz Lodge derby is over and the final results have not come in as yet. The lake level has actually come up. I did not think they could put more water in it. There has been some cloudy water on the south end of the lake, due to the inlet was opened a few times last week. Make sure to watch for floating debris

Flows are High as they are releasing quite a bit of water out of Tahoe AND Boca. These flows will go up through the weekend! Use Your WINTER and HIGH-WATER Techniques. With the current flows and water temps, one will start looking to fish areas where fish can escape the high flows that exist now. Trout this time of year, with the water flow being

Lake Tahoe Fishing Report

Fishing has been a little slow due to weather. With our sunny days, I would get on the lake a first light and fish the Tahoe shelf area located just off of Tahoe City.  The Carnelian Bay to Cal/Neva area should also be productive. Starting in 120 and progressing into deeper waters as the sun rises. Flashers or a dodger with a live minnow is

The lake level is way up and has a little stain on it from our recent storms. I fished last week with Rapalas and caught six rainbows in a four hour period. All fish were in the 14 to 17 inch class. The shore action has been a little slow, which may be due to the weather of last week. I have seen some anglers ignoring the

FISHING DECENTLY BUT WITH THE ONSET OF SOME WEATHER IT SHOULD IMPROVE. Look for the bait balls and be ready to strip or jig bait fish patterns! Both boaters and Shore fishermen having limited success. Jigging and trolling through bait balls will be the most productive technique. Some very large Cutties have been caught this time of year, so it’s feast or famine! BE CAREFUL

Flows remain steady with an increase of flow coming out of Boca but overall hasn’t changed much. Use Your WINTER Techniques. With the current flows and water temps, one will start looking to fish SLOWER water now. Trout this time of year, with the water flow being MODERATE and COLD, will be found in the usual places such as seams behind large boulders, back eddies,

Wow, what a storm!

by MATT KOLES
Still digging out in Tahoe. Another 5-7 feet. 3 feet overnight here in the Hirsch. Pretty impressive storm system. Reno even got a foot of snow. The third week of Feb. we were on pace for the worst winter ever at that point. Most ski resorts are now 75% of average. Another big round is expected next week too. Safe to say we are going to

Hello fellow anglers, Not many fishing reports coming in this week. Might be due to the crazy march weather we are having. On Friday I spoke to a fellow angler in the town of Minden and they received two inches of snow, here at our home on the north end of Minden we received ten inches by  8 am. While most passes are closed  due

Stripers and catfish are still biting well down deep off of a variety of baits such as sardines, anchovies and chicken liver. Anglers have also been getting stripers to bite on lugworms and jerk baits around the points of coves. Jigs and plastic baits have been working well along the bottom for both largemouth and smallmouth bass. Waiting on another trout plant but trout are

Fishing for mackinaw trout has been very productive for those that have ventured out. Best areas have been the Cal/Neva drop off over to the Carnelian Bay area. Most anglers have been fishing 150 to 240 feet of water with flashers/dodgers and a live minnow. You can use an imitation minnow, but remember to use a good attractant. I prefer to use the Pro Cure

The lake level is up and there is some debris on the lake. Shore angler are still having better luck for the larger fish. Green Powerbait has been most productive or inflated night crawlers. Trollers have using Rapalas or medium flasher blades with a half of a night crawler. Another good technique has been a small or medium set of flasher blades with a green

Most fishing report have been very slow. From shore, the best lures have been 1 ounce green or red spoons. Trollers when they can get out have been using Lymen lures right on the bottom.

Topaz Lake Fishing Report

by DOUG BUSEY
The shore anglers have bringing in the larger fish using powerbait in green or rainbow colors. The trollers have been catching more with smaller fish, average fish has been 12 to 15 inches with a few in that 8-10 inch range They have been using Rapalas or small to medium sized flashers with a half of a night crawler. Make sure you use a worm

Truckee River Report

by MATT KOLES
Locked into high pressure.  Mild weather for this time of year on the Truckee River. Feels about like April. Of course this mild weather warms up the water and the trouts get more active. Flows are still pretty good in both states despite the lack of snow.  Seems like they’re holding water back in anticipation of another bad winter.  This warm weather has got some bugs pop’n.

Flows are good but with the rain looming for Thursday flows could come up a bit for the weekend! Use Your WINTER Techniques. Things have changed in the weather as we will drop into a bubble of high pressure. With the current flows and water temps, one will start looking to fish SLOWER water now.
