Lake Tahoe Brown Trout

by CHAD WOODS
Angler Tabita Tripp checked in with an update from Lake Tahoe. I’m super proud of this catch! Once in a lifetime, for sure! We didn't weight him but were guessing around 10 pounds....by far the biggest catch of my life. My husband, Captain Nic Tripp and I spend every Sunday together fishing and he led me to the perfect spot, I was using the

Truckee River Update

by MATT KOLES
Cold nights, mild days on the Truckee River. Not a lot of change since last report. Flows and fishing and weather remains basically the same. We have pushed some big fish around on streamers lately. That time of year. Seems like the fishing has been better and trouts willing to chase after the water warms a little bit. We haven’t really had any weather, so it’s not

Truckee River is Solid

by MATT KOLES
Cold nights, mild days. Should cool more this week with high’s only in the 50’s. Nights will be in the upper teens. So, the best fishing should be mid-day at least on the Cali side. The Nevada side stays warmer, but both sides have been fishing well, all around, any time. Flows are still above average for October and should remain good into winter. 388 cfs

Topaz Lake Fish Report

by DOUG BUSEY
I fished last week with Tom Blotter for the last time of the season. On October first, Topaz Lake will close to fishing until January 1,2018. General reg section from tahoe city to trout creek: Fishing well for the first time in years! Flows are up and recently anglers are seeing an increase in catch rates! This stretch of the Truckee this year could be very good as a lot of fish have moved up the system to occupy spots that were vacated during the drought! Best bets on this stretch will be

Truckee River Fishing Report

Flows got bumped up last weekend and the weather will be cold with scattered rain showers/snow continuing until thursday evening! With the current flows and water temps, one will start looking to fish MODERATELY FAST water now. Trout this time of year, with the water flow stabilizing, will be found in the usual places such as seams and swift water during the day and middle and

Truckee River Fishing Report

by MOUNTAIN HARDWARE & SPORTS
With flows going down on this stretch of water one should see varying amounts of activity but light leaders and stealthy approaches will be required. Access is wide open here now and fish will be found everywhere throughout the system. Trout here will be feeding on a steady diet of Midges in the morning and then turning their attention to PMD’s and Baetis throughout the day

East Walker River Fish Report

by JIM REID
The East is down to around 260 cfs now and is starting to liven up. We’ve been getting some very good reports and of course some that are not so good as well. It’s still very technical fishing so you need to be on your game to get into decent numbers of fish. The fish that are being caught are mostly in the 12 to

Topaz Lake Fish Report

by DOUG BUSEY
Fishing in between rain storms has been a challenge this week. My advice is to get up there early and leave early. Tom and I fished from 6 am to 2 pm on Wednesday. We fished Rapalas and Needlefish lures. The bite was fair and we caught and released 17 fish ranging from 12 inches to a few pounds. We also kept 2 fish in

Lake Tahoe Fish Report

Fishing has been Great one day and very tough the next . 2 to 6 pound Mackinaw were basic fish netted with some larger specimens netted from 7 to 24 pounds. We have released several larger mack's at 18 , 22 and 24 pounds. Cal Neva Point , Sugar Pine point, Dollar Point and the Tahoe City shelf have been producing with effort . Working

Topaz Lake Fish Report

by DOUG BUSEY
Fishing has been slow for trollers. I ventured up with fellow angler Tom Blotter last week. We still fished with Powerbait and Berkley Gulp for the morning hours. Tom had me 7 to 2 fish on the fish count. We then trolled Rapalas in on the south end and we picked up a few more. Most trout were in the 12 to 17 inch class.

Truckee River Stocking Report

by NDOW
Is there such a thing as Christmas in August? The Truckee River flows have finally reached a level that allows us to start stocking fish. Tomorrow morning, Mason Valley Hatchery will load a truck with over 6,500 rainbow trout. They will be stocked from the bridges through Reno and Sparks including Patagonia, Fisherman’s Park, Booth St and Virginia St. The fish will average 8-10”.
