Western Nevada Fish Reports

Carson River Fishing Report

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
East Fork of the Carson River’s current flow is 112 cfs near Gardnerville. Fishing will pick up as the flows stabilize and the NDOW hatchery truck will be visiting soon which should make a recipe for success.

Spooner Lake Fishing Report

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
As the temperature of fall start to drop the weed bed around Spooner Lake will recede and the fishing will get better. A watercraft such as a float tube or kayak is the key to unlocking this lake’s hold on fishing. Fly anglers have had luck using black, brown, and green wooly buggers. This time of year anglers will need to transition to an intermediate

Lahontan Reservoir Fishing Report

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Fishing at Lahontan has turned off lately because of the low water levels. Water levels are hovering around 36,000 acre feet. The best fishing has been by the dam where the Truckee canal dumps in. All state parks boat launches are closed and beach launching is difficult due to muddy banks.

Humboldt River Fishing Report

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Bilk Creek Reservoir: Fishing has been good for trout. Trout were stocked in early October. Bass fishing has been fair and will slow down at the temperatures cool. Anglers in float tubes casting top water poppers at the bass will catch fish. Trout fishing should remain good until ice over. Chimney Reservoir: Fishing has been slow to fair. As it warms up fishing is expected

Lake Tahoe Fishing Report

by DOUG BUSEY
Fishing for mackinaw has been rated as very good. As the weather gets colder the mackinaw seem to get bigger. I have caught my largest mackinaw at 39 inches in early December. Favorite areas have been north of Emerald Bay in 30 to 120 feet of water, trolling Rapalas in a black and silver pattern. Cave Rock to the Logan Shoals area will start

Truckee River Fishing Report-11-8-16

by MATT KOLES
High pressure is dominating our weather for the first week of November, outlook is for continued sunshine until maybe a pattern change before T-giving. So that’s good for the fishing on the river. Obviously warm days this time of year are better than cold ones. Good for the nymphing, not so good for the streamer fishing, or dry fly fishing. Flows are really good

Big Truckee River Fishing Report

by MOUNTAIN HARDWARE & SPORTS
Good flows through Glenshire to Prosser outflow and better flows from Boca to Stateline. Getting a little relief from 79 CFS coming out of Donner! With the current flows concentrate your efforts in the deeper pools mid AM, move into the seams and riffles into the afternoon and then back into the pools in the mid-afternoon. Streamer fishing is on right now as fish are

Truckee River Fishing Report-10-31-16

by MATT KOLES
This October set record rainfall for Truckee-Lake Tahoe today. Needless to say, The Truckee River is flowing pretty good for late fall. For more images click here. Give me a follow on Instagram if you can. In fact as I write this, the river is having a big push. Over 1000 cfs here in the Hirsh, it was 400 this morning. Looks like up by Squaw and

Pyramid Lake Fishing Report

by RENO FLY SHOP
The fishing at Pyramid Lake has been as sporadic as the weather. True to form during the stormier periods the fishing has been more consistent. Not to say you can’t pick up fish during calm weather it is just at its best when clouds and wind provide some comfort and cover for the trout to feed in closer to shore. The cooler weather and storms

Truckee River Fishing Report

by RENO FLY SHOP
We got a really nice bump in flows during that last storm and it really freshened things up on the Big Truckee. Fish are spread out throughout the system and are eager to take a fly. Streamers and larger nymphs seem to be the flies of choice now. However a cloudy day with showers can be an amazing time on the Big T

Lake Tahoe Fishing Report

by DOUG BUSEY
Great news for fellow anglers, as the Cave Rock boat lunch has opened to public use once again. When the wind is not howling, the fishing has been good for the mackinaw. Most anglers have been fishing the Tahoe shelf to Cal/Neva point in 150 to 220 feet of water. Eagle Rock has also been productive. A set of flashers or a medium silver or

Pyramid Lake Fishing Report

by DOUG BUSEY
I venture out last Friday with fishing partner Tom Blotter from Minden NV. We started about 630 am and trolled north through windless Bay up to Monument Rock. I fished a 1 once red/black dotted torpedo spoon while Tom used a 2 ounce two tone lime torpedo spoon. We were fishing lead core with 4-7 colors in 30 to 60 feet of water. The fishing

Topaz Lake Fishing Report

by DOUG BUSEY
Fishing would be fantastic if the lake were open to fishing. The NDOW has started their year end fish plants. This month they have planted 2500 lbs of Triploid rainbow strain, 2000 lbs of the Incline rainbow strain and 4700 lbs of the Tahoe strain rainbow trout. The lake will open to fishing on January 1, 2017.

Truckee River Fishing Report

by MATT KOLES
Kinda the best fall fishing we’ve had in a few years on the Truckee River. The last few we just haven’t had any water. Dismal to say the least. I was mostly at Pyramid Lake last couple falls because I just didn’t want to shoot fish in a barrel on the river. Other guides were guiding the river, folks were fishing, but I tried to stay

Pyramid Lake LCT Report

by CHAD WOODS
Angler Sara Serrata checked in with a update from Pyramid Lake in Sutcliffe. NV for Sunday, October 23rd. Sara fished a Pyramid with an 8 wight fly rod and Orvis Streamers. She also fished her Shimano outfit with Kwikfish. The end result is 6 Lahontan Cutthroat Trout all being safely released back into the lake.

Hobart Reservoir Fishing Report

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Hobart may be the best bet for anglers in northern Nevada. Good fishing has been reported using Sheep creek special with sinking line. Fly anglers should also try ant patterns, water boatman, and crystal Wooly Buggers. Only artificial lures with single barbless hooks may be used. It’s always a good idea to concentrate your efforts on the weeded edges and the water inflow.

Lake Tahoe Fishing Report

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Lake Tahoe is the place to be if you are fishing from a boat in northern Nevada. It may be one of the few places you still can launch a boat and catch a fish. Anglers have been reporting good success catching Mackinaw in the 3-5 pound range. Anglers are concentrating in the 150 – 300 feet with white dodgers and minnows. The hatchery truck

Washoe Lake Fishing Report

Pyramid Lake Fishing Report

by THE TROUT FITTER STAFF

Baily Fishing Pond Fishing Report

by THE FLY SHOP
Fishing on the creek will close next week. The lakes remain open through the winter, so don't forget this delightful lodge for your winter getaways. The lakes fish really well and with the dwindling daylight and aquatic insect activity have the rainbows on the feed. They are taking midges and leeches, so a Zebra Midge or Black Crystal Bugger will really turn their heads. Expect to
