Truckee is still cold

by MATT KOLES
Ok, not too bad, 30″ inches or more in some spots from the last storm. Ridging again for the next week or so and the weather and the fishing should be pretty consistent again. Flows on the Truckee River have been hovering almost into the 600’s all week. 500 cfs today here in Hirschdale. Nice big flows once again. Good for the trouts and the

Truckee Fishing Good

by MATT KOLES
Well shit, another dry month in the middle of winter. Good for fishing, bad for our snowpack. Good news is we are still at around 100% of average. If we can get a few feet of fresh this week, that’ll put a band aid on February. We still will have more water this summer in the Truckee RIver than the last 2. Boca is filing up

Larger fish but not big numbers

by TAHOE FLY FISHING STAFF
Pyramid Lake has been producing some good action for larger fish but not yet the numbers game that we will see in the Spring. Chironomids under an indicator are doing best with stripping a close second! The fish are now in the shallows as the storms mix it up, look for windy days or rain to turn the bite on. We carry a good assortment

Fishing Really Well

by RENO FLY FISHING OUTFITTERS
Pyramid has been fishing really well for the first part of February. The water is at its wintertime low of 42 degrees but it has not hurt the fishing lately. There have been some 20 fish days out there and also some big fish caught. There are some early schools of Summit Lake strain Cutty’s cruising the shallows already. Seems a little strange since we

Flows are Awesome

by RENO FLY FISHING OUTFITTERS
The flows on the Truckee are awesome. The river is flowing at its normal flow for this time of year just about all the way from Truckee through Reno. The fishing has been as good as can be expected given all the variables. The canyon section in California has been the best mainly due to a higher number of fish in this section after the
