by NOR CAL FISH REPORTS
Unstable weather has water temps up and down with 45 degrees being most common around the lake. Warmer water will lead to better fishing. Guide Mike Nielsen  has been averaging 2 to 5 browns and 2 to 4 rainbows a trip and then switching over to lakers to finish the trip.Mike Nielsen (530) 721-0593

Truckee River Spring Fever Clinics by Matt "Gilligan" Koles

by MATT KOLES
Spring Fever Clinics are back coming this Memorial Day Weekend. Things will be a little different than last year. Last year we tried to cram everything into one clinic, this year, I'll have multiple clinics. Three different clinics on three consecutive days. As always this won't be the way your grandpa fished, but a newer progressive way to fish. Classes will be limited to four

Mike Nielsen is getting one to three browns per trip from the south shore to Meeks Bay. Largest go to five pounds. Vertical jigging gets macks from 160 to 220 feet down. Water temperature is 47 degrees. As the water warms, the bite will improve.  Mike Nielsen (530) 721-0593

Spring fishing on the Truckee is improving

by MATT KOLES
After four days of heavy winds finally they have laid down. We should continue the good spring fishing we've been experiencing in the greater Truckee-Tahoe-Reno area on the Truckee River. There still is a descent snow pack up top, but so far we've been having a gradual melt. The river has been staying in the good, fishy-flow stage. Flows are about 300 cfs below

The truth about fly fishing on the Truckee River

by MATT KOLES
As a guide sometimes you're a rock star, and sometimes you're not. Sometimes we get into fish, sometimes we don't. It's never easy on this Truckee River. We have been catching fish this week, but it seems we always work for them. Spring is a good time to catch bigger fish, but the water is still cold and not every fish is active. Sometimes in

Topaz Lake Fish Report

by NOR CAL FISH REPORTS
Bite is slow. Boaters do best trolling the middle of the lake with flashers/nightcrawlers or perch-colored Rapalas. Trout average 14 inches and can be found in the top 15 feet. Shore prospects have been difficult and most are lucky to get one. Lake is 50% full. Topaz Landing (775) 266-3550

The last few days we’ve had perfect fishing weather for the Truckee

by MATT KOLES
Cloudy and bit rainy, perfect. Fish are spread out in both states. You'll find them everywhere now. Pocket water, banks, riffles and runs. Some rainbows are still spawning, but I'm feeling the majority of fish are post spawn, especially in Nevada. The big blue wings are now out in California, and it won't be long until the march browns show up here. Skwalas are out

Good walleye fishing at Lahontan Reservoir

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
No recent reports, but anglers have reported good walleye fishing this year. Best methods have been jigs and plastic worms fished shallow in the morning and evening. Move deeper as the sun rises. Lures that mimic crawfish are a good method as well. Follow shore points and rocky or grave structure. This type of habitat will hold fish waiting
