Pyramid Lake, NV Fish Report

Weekend fishing was slow but the bite has improved this week. Anglers near the nets are now averaging a dozen fish per day. Most are being caught on beetles or wooly buggers with chartreuse bodies and white foam backs. Most fish are running 20 to 23 inches. An 8.8 pounder was caught Wednesday. Fish are starting to move into spawning channels as the water warms.

Truckee River Fish Report

The Highway 89 section is flowing nice and clear, but reports haven’t come in yet. The flows downstream near Glenshire are high but clear and may offer the best fishing. The river near Hirschdale is high and unsafe to wade. (530) 587-4844

Topaz Lake Fish Report

Most of the attention was focused on the lakes south of here. Those who did fish last weekend caught limits on trolled Rapalas in the south end. Nightcrawlers/flashers also produce trout.

Little Truckee River is fun right now

The flows are mixed on the California Truckee and it affects fishing

Flows on the Truckee are 356cfs near the town of Truckee and 1670cfs below Boca bridge. Nymphing with large Stoneflies and baetis patterns has been working. Look for the fishing to improve with lower water closer to the Tahoe Dam. The Nevada Truckee River flows are very high

Flows on the Truckee in Nevada are from 1690-1770cfs depending on what stretch of the river you are on. The river is BLOWN OUT!! It'll fish best when flows are below 500cfs. Tahoe sees a record brown

Although Lake Tahoe is known mainly for its large mackinaw [lake] trout caught in very deep water, the occasional oversize brown trout is fooled by skilled anglers. It’s up high but it’s fishable. The section from Trout Creek to Glenshire Bridge should be productive.Fish will be in close. Throw streamers, swing emergers or do indicator fishing. The section from Tahoe City  to Truckee is worth trying.   

Topaz Lake Fish Report

This lake has been open since January and fishing well when the wind isn’t whipping. Gusts reached 65 mph earlier in the week but calm is expected Saturday. The southwest side has been fishing best with a good number of trout from 1-1/2 to two pounds being caught on nightcrawlers.

Week 14 Topaz Derby 2011

This last week was excellent fishing at Topaz. The sun was shining and the fish were biting. We had anglers in everyday and a lot of them caught their limit. First place is Dusty McDonald of Topaz weighing 5.14 lbs and 23". Biggest fish so far this derby. Second place goes to Eva Bell of Yerington weighing in at 4.5
