Fishing hasn't really let up this August on the Truckee River. If you know how to play your cards the fish are willing. I've been fishing both sides of the river, California and Nevada, and catching fish in both states. Robert got the good honors today down on the Nevada side of the Truckee River. Fishing was easy, and we rode the gravy train all day. Sure, some were planters, but we did hook some big wild fish. Nights are cool and the fishing is good. Both states are fishing well, and G.G.S. has miles upon miles of river to fish.

The Truckee River is still fishing well, night's are cool, back down into the 30's-40's again, and we still have a ton of water for this time of year. Things are shaping up nicely for an epic fall. I'm back floating on an Aire raft again, in my opinion the best rafts in the business. Thankfully, I had a few hours yesterday to float the miracle mile section up from my house in Hirschdale. You have to get that new raft smell off, you know, that new smell of new rubber. It's been days since I actually strung up the rods for myself.

It's always great to take out the old clients, the ones you've taken out season after season, especially the ones that can fish. I've taken Bob out for awhile now, gotten to know him a bit. Mackinaw and kokanee combo trips have been quite good. Limits are coming in each day. Kokanee are found from the surface to 50 feet from Camp Richardson to Emerald Bay. Most are in the 12-13 inch range. Pautzke’s fire corn helps and lure.  Mackinaw are 120- to 170-feet down and averaging three to seven pounds. This time of year we usually get into the dog days of August, you know, warm water temps and sluggish fish, but this year is not typical, and the fishing still feels more like July. The fishing is good, and will remain good for the rest of August on the Truckee River. Stones, caddis, crays, and hoppers are on the menu this month. Great weather,
