Truckee River Fishing Report

by TRUCKEE RIVER OUTFITTERS
The water is cold and the fish are in their winter hiding places. The slower moving water and deeper pools are where most fish spend the winter months. There is not as much available food so the fish tend to hunker down a little. That said the fishing can still be pretty good this time of year. A lot of big fish are caught on

A 10.12 cutthroat was caught last week but that’s the best catch during a stretch of slow fishing. Poor weather and lack of pressure are the reasons for the low catch rate. (530) 541-8208; (775) 476-0400

Pyramid Lake Fishing Report

by TRUCKEE RIVER OUTFITTERS
The fly fishing out at Pyramid has been really good for this time of year. Fish are being caught all over the lake and there have even been some reports of some 10 pound plus fish being caught. Beaches with access to deeper water continue to be the places to fish. Try Blockhouse, Wino, North Nets and Spider Point to start. Most of the fish

Truckee River Fishing Report

by TRUCKEE RIVER OUTFITTERS
The river has been fishing well all year. The water is a little lower now and much easier to wade. The fish are starting to move into the bigger slower pools for the winter. Usually the Truckee will fish well all winter as long as we do not get too much really cold weather and ice. Some of the biggest fish of the year are

East Carson River Fishing Report

by TRUCKEE RIVER OUTFITTERS
Flows are 105 CFS. Great flows for this time of year. The access is going to be the biggest issue as the snowpack starts to pile up. If you are going to go the East Carson now would be a good idea. Nymphing with very small nymphs like as on the East Carson is a good way to start.

Fishing is fair. Boats get a handful of trout each trip but few large fish have been landed. Best fish recently was a 9-pound cutthroat. Flatfish trolled near the shoreline are effective. Larger boats go to deeper water to troll 80 feet deep with Flatfish, spoons and Apex lures. Best size Flatfish is U-20. (530) 541-8208; (775) 476-0400
