East Carson River Fish Report 07-12-07

Todd Sodaro and Chad Machado of the Carson River Resort (877-694-2229): The water is dropping a little but it is hanging tough. DF&G will be planting later this week, probably on Thursday. David Lopez of Martinez caught a 4.3 pound rainbow on Salmon eggs on July 7 and Rodney Reynaldo of Gilroy caught a 3 pound rainbow on Power Bait on July 5.

Truckee River Fish Report 07-12-07

Andy at The Gilly Sporting Goods Store: The Truckee is still fishing good. The water flows are slowing down. There is a good Caddis hatch in the evenings. Try yellow Sallys or Stone Flies . Nothing super big, just the normal Truckee River planter size.

Gene St. Denis of Blue Ribbon Charters and Tahoe Trophy Trout at South Lake Tahoe, Calif. (530-544-6552): We have been trolling 50-240 feet deep. We locate the fish on the fish finder and then troll in a "Figure Eight" pattern, bouncing the bottom. I've been fishing at Cal-Neva, Dollar Point and Sugar Pine Points. Gene St. Denis: I've been fishing 50-200 feet deep at Ski Run Shelf, Camp Richardson and the Tahoe Keys. Trolling with silver Herring Dodger flasher blades and minnows. Bouncing off the bottom in a serpentine pattern. Macks are 2-7 pounds.

Pyramid Lake closes June 30

Pyramid Lake, which is located approximately 30 miles north of Sparks will close on June 30 to fishing for Lahontan cutthroat trout. That lake has a three month closure, each year, from July 1 through Sept. 30. On October 1, it will re-open for the 2007-2008 cutthroat trout fishing season. You do not need a Nevada fishing license nor a Trout Stamp to fish at this lake.
