Reports have been outstanding. 20 to 50 fish days are not uncommon for those who frequent Knott Creek. Indicator Nymphing with size 18 midges is working well but the Damsel hatch has been the draw. Fish Damsel nymphs right under the surface with a slow strip and a floating line. Mornings have been best.

I've been fishing 50-200 feet deep at Ski Run Shelf, Camp Richardson and the Tahoe Keys. Trolling with silver Herring Dodger flasher blades and minnows. Bouncing off the bottom in a serpentine pattern. Macks are 2-7 pounds.

Fishing clinic on Truckee River

Missy and Shirley at Burke's Market at Silver Springs (775-577-2750): A 10-pound, 5-ounce Walleye on Saturday, a 5-pound Walleye on Saturday at Beach No. 3, and some young kids with toy-like fishing poles caught 22 fish at Beach No. 7.

Elmer Bull of Yerington reported he and his family had fairly good action on Saturday afternoon at Beach No. 6 with live minnows and worms, dragged slowly along the bottom. They caught some walleye, a 12-inch crappie (on a sinking Rapala lure) and lots of small white bass.

Fly fishing remains very good on the Truckee. The flows remain perfect from the Town of Truckee down to Reno. The best times to fish are in the mornings before it gets hot and then again the last hour or two before dark. In the mornings nymphing has been the best. Todd Sodaro and Chad Machado of the Carson River Resort (877-694-2229): The water is dropping a little but it is hanging tough. DF&G will be planting later this week, probably on Thursday. David Lopez of Martinez caught a 4.3 pound rainbow on Salmon eggs on July 7 and Rodney Reynaldo of Gilroy caught a 3 pound rainbow on Power Bait on July 5.

Andy at The Gilly Sporting Goods Store: The Truckee is still fishing good. The water flows are slowing down. There is a good Caddis hatch in the evenings. Try yellow Sallys or Stone Flies . Nothing super big, just the normal Truckee River planter size.
