North Shore Lake Tahoe Fish Report 06-14-07

Gene St. Denis of Blue Ribbon Charters and Tahoe Trophy Trout at South Lake Tahoe, Calif. (530-544-6552): We've been trolling at 50-240 feet deep. We locate the fish on the fish finder and then troll in a "Figure Eight" pattern, bouncing the bottom at Cal-Neva, Dollar Point and Sugar Pine Points. On Tuesday, a lady from Illinois caught and released a 34-inch Mack.

Gene St. Denis: Fishing has been good early in the mornings. I've been fishing 50-200 feet deep at Ski Run Shelf. Trolling with silver Herring Dodger flasher blades and minnows. Bouncing off the bottom in a serpentine pattern.

George and Carla Molino of the Pyramid Lake Store at (775) 476-0555: Boats are doing well on the north end or over on the east shore. The shore fishing has been slow unless fishing in deeper water. Nothing super big being caught.

Todd Sodaro and Chad Machado of the Carson River Resort (877-694-2229): Fishing was spectacular over the weekend. The state and county both stocked 1,000 pounds of rainbows. Bob Angel of Novato caught a 4.5 pound (22-inch) rainbow on a nightcrawler, Devon Rackle of San Jose caught a 3.5 pound rainbow on a Panther/Martin lure and Art Shallock of Novato caught a 3.5 pound rainbow on

Girish Pandit, Production/Operations Manager for the Nevada Appeal, caught 4 rainbows on Saturday and another 4 on Sunday. He was using a small white plastic grub with a tail.

Chuck and Linda Fields at the Topaz Lake Marina (775-266-3550): Not a lot going on, even with Free Fishing Days. I think it probably had to do with the Carson Valley Days celebration. Hardly anyone was fishing. The few fishermen that were here were catching some from shore at the south end, but nothing big (about 1 pound).

George LaMonica and Debbie Nedd of Douglas County fished the southwest end, near the "Icy" sign, on Saturday with worms and Power Bait. George caught a 2-pounder. Debbie caught six trout (1.5 pounds to 3 pounds). Her 3-pounder was the largest the game warden has seen since Opening Day on Jan. 1.

Flows are around 220 CFS. The East Carson is fishing really good and will only get better over the next month or so. Look for Grey Drakes and Caddis in the evenings. Nymphing with small bead head nymphs in the mornings has been effective as well.

Fishing has been fair for boats but the shore fishing has really died off except for the float tubers who are getting further out in the water. Nothing exceptional is being caught, the biggest have been 7-8 pounds.

Dave Kirby: There are lots of fish, right now, and not a lot of fishermen. I saw plenty of fish in the holes on Saturday afternoon. There will be a plant of big fish on Wednesday, June 6, by Alpine County. Those large rainbows come from that private hatchery up by Susanville.
