Lahontan Reservoir Fish Report 06-07-07

Don Hettrick and Don Quilici of Carson City plus Rich Bachle of Fernley trolled last Thursday morning. They caught and released more than 100 White Bass, 4 Sacramento Perch, 1 Walleye and 1 Carp. They were using flasher blades with various lures that resembled small fish.

The run-off is minimal this spring and the River is already fishing well. There are a couple of tributaries that are flowing pretty hard and the lower river is a little high. East Carson River Fish Report 06-05-07

Flows are fluctuating between 400 and 500 cfs. Fluctuations are vey typical for this time of year due to run-off. As the peaks and the valleys of the fluctuations start to get closer together the fishing really takes off. Wall Canyon reservoir Fish Report 06-01-07

Dave Patula, regional game warden, reports fishing was good for both hold over rainbows from last year in the 14-inch range and planters. There was additional action fishing for Small Mouth with top water bass baits.

Truckee River Fish Report 06-01-07

Truckee river fishing has been excellent. Fly anglers have been successful using Stone Flies, bead head prince nymphs and hares ears copper Johns and Flying Ant patterns. Fish the bottom bounce. Bait fisherman try bouncing eggs. The flows have dropped considerably since May, much easier to wade now. The flow is 381 cfs as 6/1/07.

Western Region Biologist Reid Varble reports fishing has slowed down, but some action is good toward the mouth of the river. Boat anglers should try trolling in this area. Trollers are using Repala's in brown and silver colors. Also some are catching trolling a Worm Harness. Bank fishermen have been successful using powerbait in orange color.
