Pyramid Lake Fish Report 05-25-2007

Fly fishing here has been awesome. Slow stripping Sheep Creek Specials with a Bird's Nest dropper with either an intermediate line or a floating line is working well. Mid mornings and evenings has been the best time to be there. This is the place to go if you need to catch some fish.

Truckee River Fish Report 05-25-2007

The run-off is minimal this spring and the River is already fishing well. There are a couple of tributaries that are flowing pretty hard and the lower river is a little high. East Carson River Report 05-25-2007

Flows are fluctuating between 400 and 500 cfs. Fluctuations are vey typical for this time of year due to run-off. As the peaks and the valleys of the fluctuations start to get closer together the fishing really takes off. Gene St. Denis: I've been fishing 25-160 feet deep at Ski Run Shelf and the Tahoe Keys Shelf. Trolling with silver Herring Dodger flasher blades and large lures. Tim Wilson of the Pyramid Lake Marina and RV Park at (775) 476-1156: It is very windy, this is not a fishing day (Monday). Fishing has been slow, but the fish are still hitting on Cooper Johns and Woolly Bugger flies at The Nets and off some of the south beaches. The boaters are doing fair, down at 70 feet, with Apex lures.

Chuck and Linda Fields at the Topaz Lake Marina (775-266-3550): On Sunday, Ricky Howard of Coleville caught a 6-pound, 6-ounce Largemouth Bass from shore on the south end with a Rapala lure. On Friday, Joe Buffo of Minden caught a 3-pound, 14-ounce rainbow while trolling at the south end with flashers and a nightcrawler. Sunday, two other boat anglers reported limits of average size rainbows.

Lake Tahoe Fish Report 05-22-07

The Mack bite is still going good. Fish are being caught out in the Tavern Hole area in front of Tahoe City. The best depth is 140 feet. Early morning is the best time. Try a broken back Rapala in black/white.

Wallowa Lake Fish Report 05-20-07

Wallowa Lake has been fishig well for stocked trout the last few weeks. Try fishing near the river mouth (but stay in the Lake since area streams do not open until Sat. May 27th). Two different anglers reported catching 20" trout using green woolly buggers.

Chuck and Linda Fields at the Topaz Lake Marina (775-266-3550): The water level is starting to drop already. It was pretty slow over the weekend, with not a lot of people. I only saw 5 boats all weekend plus a couple of shore fishermen. We are starting to get jet skis and water skiers now.

Largemouth Bass fishing is very good right now. One fisherman caught and released 30 bass in 2 hours on Saturday morning. Another fisherman did very well late Saturday and late Sunday. They are using plastic or rubber worms, both from shore and float tubes. There has been good fishing off the bank by the dike. The largest bass was a 5.5 pounder. ?Į

Missy at Burke's Market at Silver Springs (775-577-2750): I have a photo of a fisherman holding two beautiful Walleye that look about 28 inches long and they were caught over by the dam. Lots of Walleye being caught all over the lake. Nightcrawlers are working better than anything else.

Don Hettrick, Bob McCulloch and Don and Elaine Quilici, all of Carson City, fished in their chest waders at the far south end of the lake, last Thursday morning. Spincasting with lures was very slow with about one fish per hour. The cutthroat were in the 2-pound class. Lots of moss.
