Gene St. Denis of South Lake Tahoe: My son, Eric, 12 years old, and his mom (Barbara) fished in the Hope Valley. Eric caught three planters, and one of them was 5 pounds. ?Į

Dave Kirby: The river had a plant of 1,000 pounds of rainbows on Wednesday by Alpine County. There were lots of people at every hole where they planted. Those holes are probably fished out by now.

Renie Busey of Douglas caught two 3.2 pound rainbows over the weekend.

Chuck and Linda Fields at the Topaz Lake Marina (775-266-3550): Last weekend was the less amount of people that I've seen in my 15 years out here. Not that many fishermen, water skiers and jet skis. I think it is probably due to a combination of high gas prices and the Topaz Lodge being closed. The trollers (Needlefish lures) and still fishermen (nightcrawlers) did good

Missy at Burke's Market at Silver Springs (775-577-2750): I'm estimating that there were 20,000 people. There were huge crowds everywhere. Lots of people were fishing and the fishing was awesome, especially on Monday. Lots of Wipers. There was a Channel Catfish over 30 inches long and a Largemouth Bass that was 2.5 pounds.

The run-off is minimal this spring and the River is already fishing well. There are a couple of tributaries that are flowing pretty hard and the lower river is a little high. Flows are fluctuating between 400 and 500 cfs. Fluctuations are vey typical for this time of year due to run-off. As the peaks and the valleys of the fluctuations start to get closer together the fishing really takes off. The East Carson is already fishing pretty good and will only get better over the next couple of months. Look for Grey Drakes and March

Gene St. Denis: I've been fishing 25-160 feet deep at Ski Run Shelf and the Tahoe Keys Shelf. Trolling with silver Herring Dodger flasher blades and large lures. The Macks have been running 2-5 pounds. A 10--pound, 7-ounce (31 inches) brown in 80 feet of water at the Tahoe Keys Shelf on a Dodger and minnow. Lots of jiggers at Ski Run Mound. ?Į

George and Carla Molino of the Pyramid Lake Store at (775) 476-0555: It is very windy today ((Monday). Fishing has been fair. Evenings have been prime for the fly fishermen. The lure fishermen are fishing the deeper drop off areas like Spider Point. The boats are scattered all over the lake with some good fishing and some not so good. George (Pyramid Lake Charters) has

Tim Wilson of the Pyramid Lake Marina and RV Park at (775) 476-1156: It is very windy, this is not a fishing day (Monday). Fishing has been slow, but the fish are still hitting on Cooper Johns and Woolly Bugger flies at The Nets and off some of the south beaches. The boaters are doing fair, down at 70 feet, with Apex lures.

Fishing has picked up. A 6.5 pound rainbow on a nightcrawler.

Chuck and Linda Fields at the Topaz Lake Marina (775-266-3550): On Sunday, Ricky Howard of Coleville caught a 6-pound, 6-ounce Largemouth Bass from shore on the south end with a Rapala lure. On Friday, Joe Buffo of Minden caught a 3-pound, 14-ounce rainbow while trolling at the south end with flashers and a nightcrawler. Sunday, two other boat anglers reported limits of average size rainbows.

Largemouth Bass fishing is still very good. They are using plastic or rubber worms, both from shore and float tubes. One angler was even catching them with a rubber frog.?Į?Į

George and Carla Molino of the Pyramid Lake Store at (775) 476-0555: Yesterday was a little slow, we (Pyramid Lake Charters) only caught 8. The day before, we caught 20, up to 6 pounds. The shore fishing has slowed down a little, and the fishing is not as good as it was before. ?Į

West Carson River: Dave Kirby reported: It is nice shape. The state planted last week and some fish were being caught over the weekend. ?Į

Chuck and Linda Fields at the Topaz Lake Marina (775-266-3550): The water level is starting to drop already. It was pretty slow over the weekend, with not a lot of people. I only saw 5 boats all weekend plus a couple of shore fishermen. We are starting to get jet skis and water skiers now.

Largemouth Bass fishing is very good right now. One fisherman caught and released 30 bass in 2 hours on Saturday morning. Another fisherman did very well late Saturday and late Sunday. They are using plastic or rubber worms, both from shore and float tubes. There has been good fishing off the bank by the dike. The largest bass was a 5.5 pounder. ?Į
