Lahontan cutthroat action has been holding steady, giving most anglers pretty good action even though the bigger cutts have been few and far between. Truckee River Fish Report 03-28-2007

Main river from Trout Creek to the state line fishing pretty good, with golden stones, birdsnests and Prince nymphs. Some drys working; try blue-wing olives and baetis. Little Truckee getting more technical as fish have seen a lot of traffic.

Limits common here, but big fish have been scarce since windy weather set in over the weekend. Chuck Fields at Topaz Landing Marina said bank fishermen have been using nightcrawlers along the north shore. LAKE TAHOE - South Shore: Gene St. Denis: Fishing has been slow, slow, slow. I've been trolling at Ski Run Shelf at 150-280 feet with silver Herring Dodger flasher blades and live minnows. The jiggers are jigging in water 160 feet deep with Crippled Herring Jigs, tipped with a live minnow.

LAKE TAHOE - East Shore: Gene St. Denis: I'm toplining Rapala lures in 15-25 feet of water and it has been slow for rainbows, Macks and browns at Deadman's Point, Logal Shoals and Sand Harbor. I caught 5 fish on Monday with the largest being a 4-pound brown.

PYRAMID LAKE, NEV: Valerie or Linda or Patsy at Crosby's Lodge at (775) 476-0400 reported: They were doing good on the color green in the Model Dairy Derby. James Dobson had the heaviest fish (11.88). First place in the team fishing had a total of 62 pounds for 8 fish by 4 fishermen in 1 boat. There were more than 1,000 entries in the derby.

PYRAMID LAKE, NEV: Andy at the Gilly Sporting Goods Store in Sparks at 358-6113: One fly guy reported catching an 8-pounder over the weekend. The jiggers are doing good. The boaters are using the usual lures. Fly fishermen are using white/pink colors.

PYRAMID LAKE, NEV: Tim Wilson of the Pyramid Lake Marina and RV Park at (775) 476-1156: A fly fisherman at Pelican Point, last week, caught a 12.4 pounder and two 10-pounders, all on the same day. He was using Woolly Buggers and white or Chartreuse beetle flies.

Williams caught a 4.2 pound rainbow while trolling the southwest side with a perch-colored Rapala lure. TOPAZ LAKE: Diane at the Topaz Lake General Store: Tim Denver caught a 5.8 pound rainbow with a $100 tag. In addition, Wes Adams caught a 5.2 pound rainbow, Doug Douglas had a 4.9 pound rainbow and William Critser had a 3.4 pound rainbow.

We have been trolling at 150-300 feet with silver Herring Dodger flasher blades and live minnows in a "Figure Eight" pattern. I've been fishing mostly at Cal-Neva Point and Dollar Point.

Jason Molino of the Pyramid Lake Store at (775) 476-0555: The weather is much warmer. It is supposed to be 80 degrees today (Monday) with a light breeze. The fishing as picked up. There were lots of fishermen over the weekend, mostly from shore, and most of the bigger fish were caught by the shore fishermen.
