Fishing Has Been Good For Early Morning Anglers

by DOUG BUSEY
LAKE TAHOE: The fishing has been good for early morning anglers off the Tahoe City area all the way around to Cal/Neva Point. A flasher or a dodger with a live or scented minnow 12 inches behind it. You need to get right on the bottom and stir up some sand. Anglers have started in 120 ft and gone down to 220 ft as the

Water Level Has Gone Down A Little

by DOUG BUSEY

Shore anglers have been doing fair with powerbai t in the deeper areas. Here again, make sure you bring your sunscreen. The afternoon temps are looking into over 100 degrees.

Fishing Conditions Are Great Until Early Afternoon

by MOUNTAIN HARDWARE & SPORTS
With cooler nights here, the Truckee River is starting to cool down to the low 60s by the morning. The fishing conditions are great until early afternoon, then the temperatures spike. Please respect the fish and only try fishing mornings and late evenings. Anglers should try ESN style nymphing in the morning with peaches and cream, two bit stones, and perdigons. In the evenings, anglers

Summer is Hanging On

by MATT KOLES
Summer hanging on. Record heat for the weekend. Though it does feel like summer is running out of gas. Mornings are cool, afternoons are hot, but that’ll change soon. Not much change since last weeks report. We’ve been smoke free for the last few days. Been very Smokey in Tahoe and the Truckee Meadows. Smoke is good for fishing, much like cloud cover. Mornings have been good

Pyramid Lake Fishing Report

by PYRAMID LAKE STAFF
Striper boils have slowed down over the past week but have still been seen along the canal and in the Yellowbar area during the early morning hours. Anglers have been somewhat successful trolling the lake using heavy Kastmasters, umbrella rigs and deeper diving jerk baits. Lugworms, mackerel and anchovies have been working well form the shoreline to catch both stripers and catfish along the canal

Reno Fly Shop: Truckee River Fishing Report

by RENO FLY SHOP
Truckee River  The last few days we have smoke is beginning to clear. Maybe the only good thing about the smoke we have all been getting is that it was able to drop the water temps from highs in low 70s. Combined with the 7 day forecast for cooler temps we might be through the worst of summer high water temps. Fishing has been good the last

4 Species on Tahoe Today

by MIKE NIELSEN
Well today started of only boating 3 of 11 hookups early. Never got out of the hole. Lost some gear. We did get 4 species as at the end we made completely different shift and boated a nice brown immediately followed up by bigger Rainbow!     Back at it tomorrow!

The Truckee River is Flowing Great

by MOUNTAIN HARDWARE & SPORTS
The Truckee River is flowing great, but anglers should only try fishing in the early mornings or the last hour of the day. The water temperatures in the afternoons are reaching the 70s and fishing at this time could cause undue stress on the fish. Anglers should also concentrate on the fast pocket water where the oxygen levels are higher for the fish. Nymphing with

Get After Them With Crayfish and Stoneflies

by MATT KOLES
Smoke. Looks like all of California is under a blanket of smoke. I feel for those families that are in any of the fire zones. So far, fingers crossed, Tahoe hasn’t burned, but dry lightning is forecasted this week. Some days have been better than others air quality wise here in Tahoe. If there’s a silver lining, it’s that the smoke acts as could cover, and has

Truckee River Fishing Report

by ORVIS COMPANY
With water temps ranging for the high 50's to low 60's fish will be looking to feed. This time of year fish can be in any type of water, so covering all water types is important. ESN is still going to produce the most fish, but fishing with a dry dropper and nymphing with an indicator will be great way to cover deep pools, glides

Bobber Placement is Everything

by MIKE NIELSEN
Bobber placement is everything. Limits plus today. Got absolutely schooled by big fish today.  The ones that nipped and missed or fell in net or just flat out gulped. Removing hooks from under gills today.  Hope everyone near fires are safe.  Thoughts and prayers to those in loss, out of work or any unforeseen circumstances from fires. Be safe!

Flows Are Good But Water Temps Remain High

by MOUNTAIN HARDWARE & SPORTS
The flows are still good, but the water temperatures on the Truckee River remain high during the afternoons and evenings. Anglers should try to get out there before noon to avoid stressing the fish out. Anglers are seeing a good hatch of caddis fly, pale morning duns, and golden stones. Anglers fishing in the morning should try nymphing with small golden stones, small flashback pheasant

Dog Days

by MATT KOLES
Dog days. Though the fishing is pretty good in the mornings on the Truckee River. It is too hot to fish in the afternoons. Been almost as hot here in the Hirsch as Reno. Reno hasn’t got above 100 yet, which is shocking. Still it’s warm. About 95 here in the afternoon. Warm at night too. So your best fishing is in the a.m. Trouts are in

Lake Level is Dropping And Shore Fishing is Spotty

by DOUG BUSEY
The lake is dropping and the shore fishing has been spotty. The far east side of the lake in the Douglas County Park area has been fair. The California side of the lake has also been producing a few good rainbows. If you want to troll the lake, I recommend starting about 6 am to about 11 am. After that you will have to go

Still Hot & Still Solid Fishing in The AM

by MATT KOLES
Still hot, still good solid a.m. fishing. No change since last week. Flows and weather have pretty much stayed the same. Nice and cool in the a.m., hot in the afternoons. Summer will loose it’s grip here soon though. Get in there and nymph up on that fast pocket water. find the slots, fish the tops of runs, etc. You have to be able to move in
