Truckee River The Truckee River has changed a lot since the last report. Flows are down to 220 CFS at the downtown gauge and water temps are starting the day in the high 30s. The trout have acclimated to this change and the fishing has been good. You may need to change your tactics as low cold water will push the fish into slower water. The

Big changes on the Truckee River. Pretty much went from summer into winter in about 2 days. We got a little bit of snow, and are struggling to get out of the 20’s. Light cold snow. The lake is closed to fishing until January 1st 2012. The NDOW has planted the lake with 10K lbs of trout within the last  couple months. The Topaz Lodge fishing derby will not take place. But they will be giving away the 20121 Topaz Lodge fishing hats.

The boys had a blast floating around in @watermaster1 catching red hot chrome pilots! The opener was great while Tuesday and Wednesday were a bit of a grind. But it’s hard to beat gorgeous weather, beach tacos, hanging with great friends and chasing cutthroat at Pyramid.

Our favorite lake opens up November 2nd to the public. As of now we aren’t taking bookings any sooner than our original November 30th date. We are still waiting on the tribe to issue guide permits so we are putting that off a bit until we get the green light. If anything changes we will let you know. We are ready to go! Until then

Good solid fall fishing on the Truckee River. We’ve had mild weather for the most part. Nothing exciting weather wise yet. Cold nights, mild afternoons. Be great to see some rain. Cold today, but it’s going to warm back up this week again. Flows are great. Could be really low right now, but they’re still up around 400, from Boca on down. I’ve been mainly out East on

Mike Olney from Gardnerville, Nevada caught  this huge 11 lb. 4 oz. Rainbow at Lake Tahoe this weekend using a AC Plug .Lake record is 11lbs. 6 ozs. Wow!

Bite was fast and furious early except we experienced lots of loss with 15 coming off. We landed 9 !

The Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribal Council has approved the re-opening of Pyramid Lake for day use, camping, boating and fishing on Monday, November 2, 2020. State Route 446 will reopen to public passage November 2, 2020. Permit sale online only.

With cooler temps in the air, the fishing has been good. Truckee River is being released from Tahoe around 120 CFS. Anglers are fishing well with caddis, blue winged olives, october caddis, and there is some streamer fishing as well now that the water is up. Euro nymphing and indicator nymphing are also proving to be successful methods for anglers as well.   FLOWS: Tahoe City 124

Finally some seasonable temps. Switched to fall this weekend on the Truckee River. Cold overnight lows, and mild afternoons. Enjoy it while it lasts. Flows continue to remain good for mid-October. Surprised, we have this much water coming down. About 440 cfs here. So good flows everywhere below Boca. Skinny up top, anywhere above the inlet at Boca towards Tahoe City. Your best nymphing now will be mid-morning

There has been some controversy on when the lake may open this fall. The lake usually opens on October 1st, but as of now they are still closed to all non tribal members. You may also want to visit their website.  The Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe has also considered raising the day use fishing permit to $30. Another proposal was to raise the fee 25

320 CFS today at the downtown gauge, flows have been bouncing around a bit. Largely due to the end of irrigation season and the turning off the diversions into ditches.
