Water levels are recovering since the draw down last fall.  Anglers can expect decent shoreline fishing around the reservoir. The reservoir was not stocked last fall due to the draw down.  Normal stocking efforts should resume this year.

Comins Lake has approximately 100 percent open water

Comins Lake has approximately 100% open water.  The dock was slid in place last week and the launch is ready for the 2025 open water season.  Large trout have been seen shoaling off the shoreline along the north lake.  Rainbow trout being caught are measuring between 16 and 20 inches, a weighing several pounds. Illipah Reservoir is 100% open water and at capacity. Road access into Illipah Reservoir is unknown as of the storms on 3/17/2025.  Recent angler contacts revealed trout in the 11-to-13 inch range being caught, with an occasional brown trout in the mix. State Park staff has opened the main boat ramp for the season. Water temperatures are sitting between 38 and 40 degrees. Shoreline anglers are having the best luck with trout hitting orange PowerBait. Below the dam, fly anglers are finding trout in the pools downstream of the spillway.

As of 2/27/25, park officials measured 9″-10” of ice off the boat ramp with 4″-6″ of slush on top. Afternoon air temps are forecasted into the high 40s and low 50s within the next week, so slushy conditions are expected to continue. In the coves of Hendricks Arm and Penrod Arm, anglers are reporting ice 10″-12″. Anglers are reporting variable ice throughout the reservoir with

Comins Lake has approximately 95% open water.  There is one larger chunk of ice in the narrows separating the north lake and south lakes, limiting boat access to just the north lake.  Anglers can shoreline fish the northern portion of the lake or even launch a boat (dock will go in later this spring) and troll for trout and Northern Pike.  Decent size trout continue

Illipah Reservoir has 85% open water.  The only remaining ice is on the south end near the creek inlet.  Anglers can access nearly the entire western shoreline and can even launch a boat and access most of the lake.  Recent angler contacts revealed rainbow trout in the 11-to-13 inch range being caught, with an occasional brown trout being caught.

Ruby Lake is almost entirely ice-free

As of 2/21/25, park officials measured 11″ of ice off the boat ramp with 4″-5″ of slush and snow on top. In the coves of Hendricks Arm and Penrod Arm, anglers are reporting ice 10″-12″. Anglers are reporting variable ice throughout the reservoir with weak spots present. Always sample the ice for yourself and come prepared with safety equipment. Trout are being caught in the 16″-22″

Wild Horse Reservoir Update
