Ice is continuing to recede but the lake is not completely open yet. The shorelines are soft and muddy. Do not attempt to access remaining ice during the thaw. The boat dock has not been put in yet. Spring fishing should be productive with trout in the 16″-22″ range. Bass fishing will be slow until warmer weather persists. Special regulations: March 1 – June 30 is catch

State Park staff has opened the main boat ramp for the season. Water temperatures are sitting in the low 40s. For the first time in nearly 6 years, Cave Lake is at capacity and spilling. Water levels reached normal pool on 3/14/25. With recent storms, shoreline access will be muddy until the snow melts and everything begins to dry out. Anglers can expect to catch hatchery-reared rainbow trout stocked into Cave Creek in June 2024 that ended up in Cave Lake as the water levels
