The water has recovered nicely and there should be decent shoreline fishing along most of the reservoir

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
The water levels were recently lowered to repair the low-level outlet in November. The water has recovered nicely and there should be decent shoreline fishing along most of the reservoir. The reservoir was not stocked this fall due to the draw down.  Normal stocking efforts should resume in 2025.

It’s nice seeing ice anglers out and about enjoying some ice fishing this weekend!

by WILD HORSE STATE RECREATION AREA
It’s nice seeing ice anglers out and about enjoying some ice fishing this weekend! We are seeing nice sized trout and anywhere from 8-10” perch being pulled out of the reservoir! We will be getting snow tomorrow, so please prepare accordingly! The surface is still really slick, so cleats are recommended. Our gift shop now sells them in case you forget them or need more.

Ice Update!

by SOUTH FORK STATE REC. AREA
The warmer days haven't had too much of an impact on ice conditions yet. Several areas along the shoreline of both sides of the lake are averaging between 5"-7" of clear ice. Watch for changes in conditions as we get wet weather this weekend. Always double-check thickness and be alert for sudden changes. Pressure ridges abound. Be safe and have fun out there. #icefishing #icesafety Nevada State Parks

Ruby Lake has 8 inches of ice at the main boat ramp

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Ruby Lake has 8 inches of ice at the main boat ramp. The collection ditch is mostly frozen upstream of Bressman’s Cabin, with the lower portion still ice free.  All areas of the Refuge are accessible. Harrison Pass is open, but requires four wheel drive due to packed and rutty ice conditions; however, any snow at higher elevations this weekend could change that road report. Special

Ice growth has been extremely slow to nearly nonexistent at South Fork

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Ice growth has been extremely slow to nearly nonexistent at South Fork Reservoir this year. Earlier this week, after the cold front, State Park staff reported 4″-5″ of ice along the southwest shorelines. These conditions are expected to change very quickly, especially with the warmer daytime temps and rain forecasted this weekend. We do not recommend accessing the ice at this time.

Ice Update

by SOUTH FORK STATE REC. AREA
Ice Update: Good news! Areas off of Coyote Cove and Jet Ski Beach on the southwest shoreline, as well as some of the coves on the east side are measuring 4-5 inches, and are considered sufficient for foot travel. Pay close attention as there are many pressure ridges around the lake, and ice thins the further you get from shore. Always do an assessment of current conditions

Always sample the ice for yourself and come

Ice Update: South Fork is almost entirely frozen over

by SOUTH FORK STATE REC. AREA
Ice Update: South Fork is almost entirely frozen over, with a relatively thin "skin" of ice, measuring 1-2 inches at its thickest points. At this time, the lake is NOT considered safe for ice fishing. There also does not appear to be any spots along the shore currently for open water fishing access. With forecasted highs above freezing, but cold temps at night, we will monitor the

Ice thickness remains incredibly variable throughout the reservoir

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Ice thickness remains incredibly variable throughout the reservoir. Recent overnight lows dipping into the negatives have improved ice growth in some areas, while other areas still have a ways to go due to above average daytime temps. The shoreline near the boat ramp within Wild Horse State Recreation Area is just beginning to ice over and remains unsafe for access at this time. Anglers are

South Fork Ice Update

by ELKO FLY SHOP
This week's fishing report said South Fork was wide open for shore fishing. The past few nights have frozen much of the lake and first thing this morning there was little to no shore fishing until late morning when some water opened up along Jet Ski Beach. With the forecast cold temperatures for this weekend, expect limited if any open water at South Fork. Maybe
