Wildhorse Reservoir Fish Report 10-19-07

by DENNIS & ANN DUNN
With the water that is going into the lake, fishing is good. A 4.5 rainbow came in yesterday. It was caught just below the dam. A picture will be posted as soon as it gets developed.

Dennis Dunn, Mark, Rocket and Scott at the Wild Horse Resort (775) 758-6472: Not many fishermen but the fishing is fair to good. A lot of 2-4 pound trout have been coming in. There are lots of nice perch. Remember that the fall is the hot period for fishing. NDOW has been stocking heavily.

Dennis Dunn, Mark, Rocket and Scott at the Wild Horse Resort (775) 758-6472: The weather is beautiful, it is 50 degrees (Monday morning). We have not had a lot of fishermen but they are catching trout and they are football size. NDOW has been restocking the reservoir. When we had that fish die off, it did not affect the Rainbows, Perch, Channel Catfish and Bass.

We have had a big trout die-off due to the low water, algae and the warm temperatures. I walked about a mile along the shoreline and saw lots of dead rainbows, up to 23 inches and some perch, but I did not see any browns.

The lake is fine now. Some folks had some very high winds 2 days ago and then yesterday it rained the devil. Some folks took 5 large coolers home loaded with perch.

Ruby Lake Fish Report 08-29-07

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Water levels are declining, though the water level is at the refuges objective for this time of year. The springs are producing very little water, so trout fishing has dropped off. Some fish are being caught from the dikes, but for the most part, they are too small to keep. Anglers who know the marsh are catching limits, while those new to the marsh are

Last week you could only see 12 to 18 inches in the water due to the heavy algae growth. This week you can see 5 to 6 feet after the algae die-off that contributed to this week's fish kill. With the warm surface temperatures and the lack of oxygen fishing is very poor here and probably will be for the next couple of weeks.

Wilson Reservoir Fish Report 08-29-07

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Little or no change here as bass fishing continues to be fair to good and trout fishing is fair, though anglers are catching trout. For bass, rubber gear in either very dark or very bright colors is the ticket as well as crank baits. Trout and bass have been mostly active in the early morning or late evening. Fly rodders should try damsel patterns, mayflies,

Angel Lake Fish Report 08-29-07

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
The lake level has dropped quite a bit, though there is no recent report on fishing conditions. However, this time of year fishing in early morning before the wind picks up appears to be the best. Damsels, mayflies, midge patterns and small wooly buggers all work. Flies such as humpies, royal Wulffs and Kaufmann stimulators may make for some good surface action.

South Fork Reservoir Fish Report 08-29-07

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Not much change here as anglers continue to have to fight the weeds here, especially at the south end of the lake. Trout fishing is fair. Bass fishing is fair to good depending upon what time of day you fish. Early mornings and late evenings are still producing fish, especially along the dam and the rocky bluffs on the west side of the lake. For

Fishing is consistent as always, you just need to fish in the early morning to beat the heat. Small flies, worms and spinners are all working.

Comins Lake Fish Report 08-29-07

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Fishing is poor for both bass and trout due to the pike problem.

Illipah Reservoir Fish Report 08-29-07

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Like most northern Nevada waters fish during the coolest part of the day, the early morning and fishing should be fair to good. The usual baits are working.

The weather is great and it is cool at night. The fishing is still good, both from shore or in boats. The perch, trout, bass, wipers and catfish are all hitting. There was a 17 pound Channel Catfish on a worm over by Hendrick's Creek.

Wildhorse Reservoir FIsh Report 08-15-07

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
The water level continues to drop and boaters should proceed cautiously in those areas where there are submerged (maybe now exposed) islands and rocks. However, trout fishing is slow to fair from shore and fair to good from a boat, while perch fishing is fair to good. No recent report on bass angling. Most trout anglers are doing the best trolling rapalas or flashers tipped

Bass fishing has been good, especially along the rocky shore on the north side of the lake. Rubber gear in either very dark or very bright colors is the ticket. As with all of our waters, the trout have moved deeper and the best area is between the boat ramp and the dam in the canyon. Both trout and bass are mostly active in the

Fishing is starting to slow a bit, but fishing first thing in the morning is still fairly good. Most anglers are using worms or PowerBait, though worms appear to be working better. Most traditional nymph patterns should work and they are also hitting dry flies when the sun either first hits the water or just leaves it. Bead head prince nymphs, PT nymphs, sparkle buggers

Not much change here. Trout fishing is just fair as the trout have headed into deeper and cooler water to beat the heat. Bass fishing is fair to good depending upon what time of day you fish. Early mornings and late evenings are still producing fish. The lake is weedy so take advantage of it and fish the edges of the weed beds if other
