by RUSTY
This week, our local high school’s fishing club was out on the water! Led by mentor Gary Regan, the program takes groups of local kids and adults fishing at various spots along the shores of the Colorado River—completely free of charge. It’s a great opportunity for beginner anglers to learn local fishing techniques. On this outing, the group landed three stripers and had a few more

Striped bass are cruising the deeper water

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Rainbow trout were stocked once again by the hatchery. Anglers were able to catch many rainbows using night crawlers and glitter PowerBaits. Tube jigs and spinners landed some bigger trout and feisty stripers. Striped bass are cruising the deeper water waiting for the perfectly presented swimbait in the early morning hours. Black bass are active again from Cottonwood to Davis Dam. Soft plastics, like chigger

Bluegill and catfish are the main catches at city ponds

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Bluegill and catfish are the main catches at city ponds. Bluegill are biting meal worms and small nightcrawlers throughout the day. Catfish are taking stink baits and night crawlers. A few trout remain in many ponds but are slow to chase as water temperatures rise. Please discard the fishing line in the provided trash bins and receptacles.

Triple-digit temperatures have arrived

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Triple-digit temperatures have arrived which means most anglers are fishing between dusk and dawn. Striped bass in the two to three pound range were hitting topwater lures and cut anchovies. Crankbaits and jigs are tempting largemouth bass in the coves of Boulder Basin. Bluegill and catfish action has been good near 33-Hole for anglers using night crawlers and hot dogs.

Here are a few stripers we caught a while back. This is about the size that should be running now—but they’re not. The striper bite has slowed down on Lake Mohave, and anglers are mostly just driving around looking for fish. The largemouth bass are in spawning mode—either on the nest or guarding fry (baby fish). While striped bass are being spotted, they’re not showing much
