Construction preparation has begun for the Hemenway Harbor boat ramp extension project. Visitors may notice crews on site and the presence of heavy equipment, including cranes and boats, as we begin staging for the summer project. We’ve got some great news for local anglers! There’s a solid run of stripers right now, and some trout are in the mix as well. Rotary Park has been freshly stocked with rainbow trout, making it an excellent spot to cast a line. Local angler Theresa Richardson recently landed a beautiful striper while fishing from shore along the Colorado River. Her catch weighed in at 4.58

Expect muddy and high water throughout the summer. Fishing will be difficult. 

The Colorado River below Davis Dam is producing some excellent catches this time of year. Anglers are reporting success from various spots, with anchovies working best, while different lures are bringing in some of the larger fish. Here are a few stripers we caught a while back. This is about the size that should be running now—but they’re not. The striper bite has slowed down on Lake Mohave, and anglers are mostly just driving around looking for fish. The largemouth bass are in spawning mode—either on the nest or guarding fry (baby fish).
