Southern Nevada Fish Reports

 The shorelines have been icy in the early morning hours. Anglers have been catching rainbow trout in the 12- to 15-inch class. PowerBait and night crawlers have been fooling the fish. Spinners have been drawing energetic hits.

The water level has been drawn down so the Nevada Division of State Parks can make repairs to the dam. This has resulted in muddy shorelines that make access to the remaining water difficult. Repairs will keep water levels until after the New Year. 

Anglers of all skill levels are enjoying the recent rainbow trout plants below Davis Dam. Jigs, spinners, PowerBait and worms have been productive for shore anglers. Boaters are trolling anchovies and trout lures to land feisty striped bass. There have been a few reports of catfish taking stink bait and anchovies near the Laughlin Lagoon.

The Nevada Department of Wildlife has begun its seasonal rainbow trout plants at the community fishing ponds. The ponds can be found at Floyd Lamb Park, Lorenzi Park, Sunset Park in Las Vegas, and at Veterans Memorial Park in Boulder City. Stripers are still chasing topwater lures right after sunrise. Anglers are reporting larger striper catches when jigging at depths around 100 feet. Black bass action is hit and miss, with anglers finding the best bite from Callville Bay through Government Wash. The fish are taking crankbaits in shad and crawdad patterns, as well as a variety of floating baits.
