The striper bites are steady on the lake. Anglers have had success fishing in shallower water for the striped bass in the early morning and then switching to deep diving lures once the heat of the day has warmed the surface waters. Trolling with gizzard shad has worked for many through the Vegas Wash area and outside Boulder Beach.

The warmer temperatures have had an impact on fishing opportunity. Largemouth bass have been hitting on imitation crawdads, worms and grubs in darker colors. Tube baits in green or root beer color, small jigs and night crawler pieces have brought in the crappie. While the action may continue a little later into the morning, it slows significantly into the afternoon until the heat subsides and

Weeds have become a bit of an issue for anglers, especially those fishing from shore. With temperatures reaching into the mid 90’s during the day and dropping into the 60’s at night, trout prefer the early mornings or late evenings to bite on the offerings of PowerBait and nightcrawlers. Action for bass and crappie has been decent and a little longer lived through the day

Our creel clerk went to Echo Bay to get some fish stories but not great success out there overall. Another fisherman caught a good mixed bag of stripers, largemouth bass, and smallmouth bass on swimbaits and crankbaits. Fishing has been good for stripers hanging on the surface following their food source. Anglers at the Wild West bass tournament last Sat-Sun had some impressive bags for

The fish have been cooperative in the early morning hours with trout taking the usual Powerbait in orange or rainbow colorations and night crawlers are attracting a few fish, but the action throughout the day has slowed down with the rising temperatures. Weed growth has bloomed around the lake making some of the more popular spots on the lake difficult to fish.

Rusty’s Riviera reported one fisherman in the Fort Mohave landed a channel cat and a smallmouth bass. He was fishing from shore and using various plastics and green worms. Stripers seem to be best lured in by anchovies. One group was able to bring in a couple of stripers just under 6-pounds. This group was fishing from shore and also using anchovies.

The eastside of Boulder Basin has been producing good sized stripers around 4-pounds. Reports have them hitting on anchovies and silver lures. Catfish are hitting later in the day on anchovies as well. The fish are active, however if one bait or method doesn’t work, try switching it up. Fish will go after bait or lures that look like their natural food source.

Boaters have been catching smallmouth and largemouth bass near Callville Bay while working soft plastics in coves. Striper action also has been good. Warm water temperatures will push the fish deep during the daytime hours and will do so earlier in the day than in the recent past. Cut anchovies, live shad or shad imitations will catch the stripers. Catfish will hit anchovies too, as

Largemouth and smallmouth bass are holding in the coves along submerged shelves. Soft plastics are catching the fish.

Weather conditions have made fishing difficult for many anglers in recent weeks, but with clearing skies the trout bite has picked up. PowerBait, night crawlers, spinners and a variety of flies will catch the fish. The bass and crappie are spawning. Anglers report seeing some good fish, but none are biting yet. NDOW is reminding anglers that Dacey is restricted to the use of artificial

Shore fishing has been good this past week with those using spinners doing better than those using traditional baits like night crawlers. Gold Mepp’s spinners with red dots continue to be the most productive hardware. Stormy conditions have kept most boaters and float tubers off the water.

Up near the dam anglers have been catching fish in the 2- to 4-pound class, but the river has given up some fish pushing past 20 pounds. The fish are taking anchovies, but don’t overlook trout imitations.
