Good soaking rains. Seems about right for May. 80 degrees, then back in the 40’s. Just when you put out the patio furniture. Anyways, the rivers back to normal flows, or at least what it was before this rain. Will Wolf checked in with us after fishing out at the Ruby Marshes. They caught the trout on spinners with gold spoons and yellow tails. Awesome catch! Thanks for sharing!

Check out this awesome Rainbow caught by Lisa Fanti at Topaz Lake. She was fishing with her husband, Corey and trolling a Rapala XWrap in trout pattern. Once they netted him, they discovered a 6” fish hanging out of his mouth. They donated that one to the pelicans. The fish weighed in at 6lbs 9 ounces. She caught him at 08:45 on the downrigger at 28 feet.  Thanks for sharing with us

Truckee River  We are currently at 950 Cfs at the downtown Reno gauge. We have passed our annual natural peak flow. This is the peak flow of natural snowmelt and unregulated inflow. Flow in the Truckee River will gradually reduce to our “summer flows” coming from the 7 upstream reservoirs. Water Temperature: 55 degrees Wiper/ White Bass: Wiper and White Bass have started popping up on sandy beaches near drop offs and ledges. Actively is increasing around 4pm. Try using bright colored or shiny lures. Catfish: Catfish are being reported all around the lake. Anglers are having a lot of luck at the entrance to the narrows on the Fallon side, and near the dam at overlook.

Groves Lake has plenty of shoreline to access fishing and there was a kayaker out on the water. After arriving we meet a 12 year old who got his limit of Rainbow trout pretty quickly. He advised us on using a worms to catch the hungry fish. After setting up my line with a fresh worm I casted out into the water. BAM! First cast
