Fishing Below Spillway Has Been Good

At last report the lake was spilling but not very heavily. Fishing is good for 12 to 15-inch fish that are in good shape. The same presentations, flies, baits and lures as used at South Fork, should also work well here. Fishing below the spillway has been good though is slowing down. This lake will be stocked once it stops spilling.

Fishing at Cave Lake has been good but the water level is low from a drawdown due to concerns with the dam. The usual small nymphs and crystal buggers are working for trout, with beadhead pheasant tail nymphs being very effective. The reservoir is full and fishing has been fair to good. The usual springtime flies of wooly buggers, prince nymphs, hares ears and chironomid patterns should all work. Small spinners, PowerBait and worms should be effective as well. Illipah was stocked with 7500 trout on May 1.

Bite Was Hot on Tahoe Today

Put in lil work today. Got about a dozen. Initially the bite was electric as soon as we had three lines in and working on 4 th had triple going. Then spun around and had few more quickies then it stopped. Jigged up some throwbacks and then got into mid morning bite at end!

Anglers have found good fishing at this Lincoln County reservoir with folks of all ages catching fish. Some anglers went home with a limit of 5 trout. Others caught and released largemouth bass.Plastics and crankbaits are working for the bass while trout are taking PowerBait and night crawlers. Bass are catch-and-release only through June 30. State park campgrounds are open at half capacity.

The Nevada Department of Wildlife stocked 5- to 7-inch Bluegill at all the urban ponds last month and this month. The agency planted catfish at the end of April. Both species are taking small worms and corn combos. Fishing is best in the morning when the parks open or towards sunset where access is available.
