Laughlin River Report

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Light fishing to report over the past week. Those who are fishing are catching rainbow trout from the shoreline below Big Bend State Recreation Area. Anglers are using sunset PowerBait and silver spinners. Stripers will be found just behind the trout, so look for areas where the current switches direction or shadows in the water.

Lake Mohave Report

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Various coves north and south of Cottonwood Cove have been producing striped bass around the 5-pound mark. Stripers are hitting on anchovies while trolling and on swimbaits in trout or shad patterns. The Willow Beach Fish Hatchery plants rainbow trout each Friday, and the fishing has been good. The fish are hitting baits in yellow and red colorations.

Las Vegas Urban Ponds Report

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
The Nevada Department of Wildlife planted trout this week at the urban ponds in the Las Vegas area. Ponds in Mesquite and Beatty were also on the agenda. Stocked rainbows have been taking a variety of baits and lures, including rainbow PowerBait, night crawlers, and spinners. Mepp’s and Rooster Tails are generally a good option. Some of the trout have even been hitting jointed swimbaits

Lake Mead Report

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Live shad continue to be the most productive bait for striped bass. Anglers are reportedly netting the shad in the Vegas Wash area. Stripers are being found in coves and along steep canyon walls in 50 to 70 feet of water.  Action for largemouth and smallmouth bass is slow. There have been a few fish caught out of Callville Bay using watermelon colored soft baits.

Great Time For Larger Stripers

by RUSTY
This is a great time to get out and try for our larger stripers and our local angler Richard Erdmann was doing just that. He went to community park and was using his favorite top water lure and landed a nice 14.64 pound striper at 34 and 3/4 inches. The Bureau of Reclamation has been cutting back on our water flow. These low releases from

The old record was 13 pounds 8 ounces caught by Tony Hemmah on April 1, 1998. Patrick’s fish is a hefty one, with the state record not too far out at 16 pounds

Pre Spawn Pilot Party

by PYRAMID FLY CO.
As we are settling into the heart of winter and getting acclimated to weather, the fish are doing the same.  In the last month we have had some frigid winter days.  As the water temperatures have dropped the fish have been frequenting the shallows a bit more.  What does this mean?  Fishing is picking up!  The large Pilot peak strain are starting to feed heavily

Truckee River Fishing Report-1-6-20

by MATT KOLES
Good last week on the Truckee River. Warm temps got the fishing going. We had some days in Reno near 60. Gonna get colder this week, not too bad though for January. Smaller slider type storms will brush us. As long as you don’t have that East wind, won’t be too bad temp wise. Hopefully, we get get some big storms by the end of the

Carson City man lands 9-plus pound rainbow at Topaz Lake

Thanks for sharing Sandy Watkins.

Truckee River Fishing Report-12-29-19

by MATT KOLES
Cold has been the word on the Truckee River. No post last week as we were on the East Coast and no fishing for me.  So the last 3 days, I’ve been on the lower river. It’s been cold. One or two grabs each day on the streamers. Yes, very slow, but the ones that did eat have been big, real big. Lows overnight in Reno have

Topaz Lake Season Opener and Angler Input

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
The season opener at Topaz Lake is January 1. For many families, spending New Year's Day at the lake has become a tradition. In this week's Nevada Wild, Ashley Sanchez and Aaron Keller sit down with fisheries biologists Kris Urquhart and Chris Crookshanks to talk about fishing conditions on Topaz Lake, an underutilized fishery at the lake, and how anglers can give their input on a year-round season. Fishing is Good and Getting Better

by DOUG BUSEY
The fishing has been good and expecting to get better.  I have caught my biggest mackinaw and browns between December and the end of January. If your not familiar with the lake, I recommend to go out with a professional guide. It will not only be a fun trip, but educational as well. For more information call Blue Ribbon Fishing Charters at 530-544-6552.

Fishing Has Been Pretty Good The Last Couple of Weeks at Pyramid

by RENO FLY SHOP
Fishing has been pretty good for the last couple of weeks. Patience has been key, as fish are coming in to eat a few times a day so it is best to get to a beach and wait for the school of Lahontan Cutthroat Trout to go by. I have been fishing both floating line and sinking line throughout the day. Mornings have been best
