On Monday, went out solo and trolled for a few hours. Landed 5 total, 4 were small stockers and 1 was about 1.5 pounds. Trolled the north side of the lake with rapalas. Fishing for Trout Appears to Still be Good

Wildhorse is covered with 14 to 16 inches of ice with some snow on top. There are a very few areas with just a bit of slush, but not enough to worry about. Fishing for trout appears to still be good, with perch fishing being quite variable. Good one day and poor the next. The trick for trout seems to be in fairly shallow water

South Fork has about seven to 10 inches of ice with some open water near the inlet at the south end of the lake. Catching Quality Trout in the 16 to 20 inch Range

Ice depths are highly variable on Comins Lake, with portions of open water on the south and north areas of the lake. Yet portions of the lake were covered with 10 to 14 inches of ice. Anglers should be very cautious when navigating the ice on the lake, particularly in the north lake area. Anglers may want to drill some test holes before venturing too

Illipah Reservoir

The ice at Illipah Reservoir is approximately 9 to 10 inches on both sides of the old dam. Fishing has been fair to good for 10 to 15 inch trout. Anglers should do well fishing with power bait, night crawlers, meal worms, and flashy jigs.

Topaz Report

The trolling action has been slow. Last week I spoke to many anglers as we trolled by with only few fair catches. Blades and a worm has been the most productive with Rapalas coming in second. The shore anglers have been more productive for the larger trout. Tom Blotter from Minden sent me a picture of a 20 inch tagged rainbow he caught last Tuesday.

Topaz Lake Report and Week 2 Derby Results

Second week, Steve Neilsen took 1st place with an 8.9 lb 26 inch rainbow. Second place was Jason Young with a 7.11 lb 24 inch rainbow. Third week, Nathan Bennett with a 6.14 lb rainbow. Second place was Gary Neison with a 5.13 lb rainbow. So far they have had 90 tagged trout brought in to the general store since January 1st. For more information
