Davis Dam Fishing Report

by RUSTY
The striper bite has slowed some there are some out there but the bite is a tad slow I suppose the fish are waiting for our anglers to try out their new rod and reel and that special stocking stuffer a lure or two. Our local angler Leroy Morin Jr. had  some luck while fishing from the shore using anchovies in the Rotary park area.

Good Winter Fishing on the Truckee River

by MATT KOLES
Good winter fishing on the Truckee River. Weather was much more mild this last week.  Except for Monday, should be mild with high pressure building in until Christmas. So that should mean a good week -and weekend of fishing.  Flows have been bumped up on the Truckee River coming out of Boca.  Flows out of Stampede on the LT have been bumped up too. 350 or so

Pyramid Lake Fly Fishing Report

by RENO FLY SHOP
What a Season! Starkly contrasted with last year, this year has been amazing. Fish are coming into shallow water daily, and feeding well. It’s still not a numbers game but average fish is 6-8 pounds, and were catching a lot of fish over 10 almost daily. Fish have tended towards the indicator bite, but on slow days change to retrieving flies as that has proven

Fly Fishing has Still Been Best in the Afternoon

by RENO FLY SHOP
Fly fishing has still been best in the afternoon with a few blue winged olive mayfly (BWO) hatches happening mid day when the sky is over cast. It appears that the inversion layer that we have been experiencing the last few weeks has finally dissipated. This will bring extra heat into the river and get the fish more active in the late afternoons. We are

South Fork Reservoir Fishing Report

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
The cold weather has covered about 75% of South Fork with ice, though as of Thursday, December 13, there was open water along Jet Ski Beach for fishing. With the cold night time temperatures and daytime highs around freezing and below the open water won’t last long. Generally this lake is a couple of weeks behind Wildhorse for freezing and for safe ice. Fishing the

Comins Lake Fishing Report

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
The lake is a mixture of open water and ice.  Most of the ice should be considered unsafe, though the north lake does have some areas of ice up to six inches thick.  It is highly variable so anglers should use extreme caution before venturing on the ice and test it as they go.  Some early ice fishing has produced fish averaging 16 to 20 inches.  The same presentations

Ruby Lake NWR Fishing Report

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Very little change here as much of the south marsh and units are covered in ice.  Even the collection ditch and units have some ice, though you can find open water where the springs are.  Fishing continues to be fair to good at the collection ditch for 12 to 16 inch trout.  Small spinners and minnow imitations were producing some fish for spin fishermen, but

Wildhorse Reservoir Fishing Report

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Wildhorse is covered with four to five inches of ice as of Thursday, Dec. 13. However, as you get further from shore, the ice gets thinner, so don’t venture too far out just yet.  Anglers were catching 16 to 19 inch fish using a variety of presentations through the ice near the bridge by the highway. Worms, PowerBait and jigging were all working on Thursday.

Laughlin Fishing Report!

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Anglers are catching rainbow trout on the north end of the state recreation area at Big Bend.  The fish are taking night crawlers, orange PowerBait or Kastmasters.  Anglers are catching both catfish and stripers while fishing with anchovies.  Striped bass also are hitting silver and orange spinners.

Anglers are Finding the Best Fishing from Boats

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Anglers are finding the best fishing from boats.  Pencil poppers and Rat-L-Traps in silver and blue are catching the attention of striped bass holding in deeper water.  If fishing from shore, you may want to find a cove with a drop off.  Smallmouth bass are hanging out in coves between Cottonwood Cove and Telephone Cove while catfish have been found in grass beds not far

Las Vegas Urban Ponds Fishing Report

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
The Nevada Department of Wildlife planted rainbow trout in the ponds at Floyd Lamb, Lorenzi, Veterans Memorial and Sunset Parks.  Hafen Park in Mesquite was added to the schedule for this week.  The fish are taking PowerBait, Power Eggs, night crawlers and mealworms, along with small spinning lures and spoons.

Anglers are Finding Good Fishing for Striped Bass.

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Anglers are finding good fishing for striped bass.  Boaters are finding the best success with gizzard and threadfin shad.  Fish weighing as much as 13 pounds have been caught in 70 feet of water. Shore fishing is good for 1- to 3-pound stripers and catfish.  Anchovies are catching the fish, which are hanging out in coves and about 10-25 feet of water.

Good Streamer Fishing on the Nevada Side of the River

by MATT KOLES
A cold cloudy week on the Truckee River. Looks like more of the same this week too.  Actually, good for winter fishing.  The clouds seem to keep things warmer.  Like a blanket so to speak over the river. Good streamer fishing on the Nevada side of the river.  East through the Nature Conservancy we had a couple really good days.  Brown trout are post spawn.  They are

Best Time to Fish Right Now Noon to 3-ish

by PYRAMID LAKE GUIDES
Water temps are consistently dropping, heading towards the coldest part of the season.  The fishing is good for big fish, numbers are not typically high during December but when anglers do get one to the net it’s typically good quality by means of size.  Indicator fishing has been more productive than stripping.  It appears that the best time to fish right now is during the
