Nevada Fish Reports

Ruby Lake Fishing Report

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Very little change here and Harrison Pass is open, though take a 4WD with clearance as there are some washouts. Fishing has slowed a bit in the collection ditch with high water that is turbid in areas. Fly rodders should try the usual assortment of nymphs under an indicator as well as wooly, seal and crystal buggers. Scuds, midges, and

Wild Horse Reservoir Fishing Report

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Wildhorse is full and spilling with lots of water still to melt out of the snowpack. You can launch a boat and the boat dock is in the water. For the first time in a few years, the boat ramp is under water and ready for use. Fishing fair for trout but is starting to pick up as the surface water temperature

Willow Creek Reservoir Fishing Report

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Extremely low water levels with warm water make this reservoir a poor choice for fishing. Not worth the trip.

Wilson Reservoir Fishing Report

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
The road to Wilson is in fairly good shape, but has some ruts and washboards, so take your time. The lake is spilling with enough water going over the new rock below the spillway to let trout move down into the river and pools below the spillway. Fishing below the spillway has been good. The water in the lake is starting

Angel Lake Fishing Report

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
The road to Angel Lake is closed. There will be no further reports until late next spring or early summer depending upon snow conditions.

South Fork Reservoir Fishing Report

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
The surface water temperatures have climbed into the mid 50’s and with the sunny days of this week, the fish have moved away from shore during the day so anglers need to change their tactics. Anglers do continue to catch some fish along Jet Ski Beach, but coves further north such as Tomera, the boat ramp cove and those closer to the dam are

Cave Lake Fishing Report

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Fishing has been fair to good for 10 to 12 inch fish using worms or cheese baits under a bobber. Small spinners are also effective. For fly rodders: hare’s ears, pheasant tail nymphs, prince nymphs, small crystal buggers and Cave Lake specials are all good flies. The surface water temperatures are in the mid 50’s and there have been occasional hatches of

Cold Creek Reservoir Fishing Report

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
This is currently at about 90% of capacity and fishing is picking up. Trout have been seen rising and dimpling the surface, especially in the warmer afternoons. Chironomids, scuds and small nymphs (size 16 to 20) fished either right above the bottom or just under the surface appear to be working. This lake was recently stocked with approximately 2000 rainbow trout.

Illipah Fishing Report

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
There are still some muddy areas, so anglers should use caution when driving around the lake though it is drying out. The public should still plan on sticking to areas with good gravel substrate to keep from getting stuck with the precipitation that is forecast for next week. The usual worms, PowerBait or mealworms should all work. Small spinners and spoons should

Eagle Valley Reservoir Fishing Report

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Action has been very good for rainbow trout and largemouth bass. Bait fishermen have done well with night crawlers, while those throwing lures also caught fish but wouldn’t share their secret. Special bass regulations for catch and release is in effect until June 30. Water conditions are very good and aquatic weeds have not become a problem yet.

Echo Canyon Reservoir Fishing Report

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
The action for trout, bass and crappie has picked up with bait anglers using night crawlers or PowerBait doing very well off the dam. The water level is starting to drop, but the lake remains full and weed free.

Lake Mohave Fishing Report

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Striped bass are keeping fishermen busy. The best fishing is taking place in the early morning hours and around sunset. Black bass are taking soft plastics fished on a drop shot, crankbaits and some top-water baits. Look for the fish in coves with vegetation and other structure, along the edge of deep water and near drop-offs. Stocked rainbows at Willow Beach will generally take

Lake Mead Fishing Report

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
All warm water species are very active. The big news this spring is crappie. After several years on the slow end, the slab-sized sunfish has provided anglers with good action in the Overton Arm. Small jigs in white or silver colorations, and small crankbaits will catch the fish. Striped bass are pursuing shad near 33-Hole and along the east side of Boulder Basin. Government Wash

Truckee River Fish Report

by MOUNTAIN HARDWARE & SPORTS
ith the current flows being quite high one will still be fishing the softer water closer to the bank, with flow to it, as trout will not be fighting the higher flows found in the middle of the river. Trout this time of year, and in the situation we’re in, can be found in some shallow water just to avoid the flow and use as

Big pumping flows. Lots of water coming out of Lake Tahoe right now into the Truckee River. 2000 k coming out of the lake. Lots of water coming out of everything else too. What you have is about 5,400 cfs here in the Hirsch. Much higher and more dirty down below. Word is that peak flows will happen on May 17th, but I think

Fly fishermen are having success using
