Fishing has been good to fair on Lake Tahoe

by DOUG BUSEY
Fishing has been good to fair. Jason has been catching limits of mackinaws and a few browns. Best areas have been from Cave rock to the north for browns and mac's. Mainly because the NDOW recently planted the lake a week ago with catchable rainbows. Other areas have been off the Camp Richardson shelf with J plugs or Rapalas. For more information or to set

Fishing has been good

by DOUG BUSEY
When you can get out without the "W". Fishing has been good. Most have been using flashers and worms. I prefer to use small Cowbells, gold and silver. They are smaller and less drag for a better fight. Rapalas have been productive on top and down deep. Keep changing patterns and sizes to find the most productive for that day.

15 plus pound Lake Trout

by ROBERT VARIK
Tahoe Trophy Trout checked in after a trip on Lake Tahoe, reporting a double hookup that landed a 6–7 pounder and a 15+ pound Lake Trout. To book a trip with Tahoe Trophy Trout, visit TahoeTrophyTrout.com or call 530-318-0791.

Now’s a Great Time to Catch a Striper or Two!

by RUSTY
The Colorado River below Davis Dam is producing some excellent catches this time of year. Anglers are reporting success from various spots, with anchovies working best, while different lures are bringing in some of the larger fish. One of our local anglers, Karie Camargo, stopped in to share her recent catch — a beautiful 3.66-pound, 22-inch striper! She was fishing from shore in the Rotary Park

Lake Tahoe's spring bite is on fire!

by MOUNTAIN HARDWARE & SPORTS
Lake Tahoe's spring bite is on fire! Water temps hover around 50–55°F, with exceptional clarity thanks to low algae levels—the best in 40 years . Mackinaw are hitting hard between 70–120 ft; troll Rapalas or jig white/chartreuse tubes tipped with sucker meat. Anglers are averaging 3–5 fish per rod . Rainbows and browns are moving shallower—try spoons or flies near shore. Kokanee are staging deeper

At Pyramid Lake, fishing continues to improve post-spawn

by MOUNTAIN HARDWARE & SPORTS
At Pyramid Lake, fishing continues to improve post-spawn. Lahontan Cutthroat are active from Pelican Point to Warrior. Fly anglers using midges from ladders are still catching a few fish, especially in the early morning and evening hours. Trolling 35–50 feet deep with Flatfish, Sierra spoons, or Lymans is working well. The fish are aggressive and cruising for food. The lake is at full capacity with

Flows are fluctuating with mild to medium runoff from high-elevation snowpack

by MOUNTAIN HARDWARE & SPORTS
Current Water Conditions Flows are fluctuating with mild to medium runoff from high-elevation snowpack. The river remains mostly clear and wadable in most areas but with some rain and a possible weather front moving through next weekend. Timing will be key the week of 5/12/25.   Current flows are 77 CFS at Tahoe City, 398 CFS through Truckee, and 1000 CFS near Farad. Trout are in

Pretty much nice weather and fishing on the Truckee River

by MATT KOLES
Pretty much nice weather and fishing on the Truckee River. Major wind the last few days, but we'll get back to normal again. Spring is always iffy in the mountains.  Flows have remained, up, but it's really not all that high for mid-May. Clarity is good too.  All types of rigs and ways will work. Streamers, nymphs, dries, etc. Spring is a good time to get a little

Big Lakers and even bigger smiles!

by ROBERT VARIK
Captain Rob with Tahoe Trophy Trout took our family out on Saturday, and we had a wonderful time! Our kid caught the biggest fish—an 8 lb. Mackinaw! Captain Rob was incredibly accommodating to everyone on the boat. We not only caught some fish but also enjoyed sightseeing around the lake. We highly recommend Tahoe Trophy Trout for a fun and memorable family experience on Lake

Take a Kid Fishing Day this past Saturday at the Spring Creek Marina!

by SPRING CREEK ASSOCIATION
Thank you to everyone who came out to Take a Kid Fishing Day this past Saturday at the Spring Creek Marina! It was a beautiful morning filled with smiles, splashes, and some impressive catches—just like these two kiddos showing off their prize fish! A big thank you to our amazing sponsors: Elko Fly Shop, Ridley’s, The Boardwalk at the Marina, and Brent Stokes with State Farm for

The ranch is still producing very well

by KENS SPORTING GOODS STAFF
The ranch is still producing very well with reports coming in from anglers catching 5 to 15 fish per half day down there. Like the California side it’s been mostly nymphing with a few fish still being caught with streamers. The ranch is getting pretty booked up about 2 weeks in advance lately so if you want some time down there try to give us

Flows are rising slowly and steadily

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
We have seen the flows rise slowly and steadily on the Truckee over the past week, but with another stormy start to next week, we will see them drop once again. The biggest factor for this fluctuation right now is the air temps. If we get a few cold days in a row, they can drop as much as 100-200 CFS in that timeframe. These

Warm weather has the water slowly creeping up

by RENO FLY SHOP
Mike Anderson with your OtW Report from the Truckee River. Warm weather has the water slowly creeping up. A bit of flow and some color has helped the fishing this week. We anticipate things to continue to fish well moving into yearly peak flows. If the Truckee gets high we have some other great options in our area.    Other watersheds are a bit less responsive to

Riviera Marina Fishing Report

by RUSTY
The striper bite is back and stronger than ever along the shores of the Colorado River below Davis Dam. Local anglers, with Mike Merritt at the helm, landed a total of 12 stripers, including Russell Mink, Ethan Merritt, Regan Harbin, and Hazel Harbin. Mike knows a spot that’s producing well, but a boat is definitely recommended to access it. The anglers used anchovies to catch

Rolling through Spring on the Truckee River

by MATT KOLES
Rolling through Spring on the Truckee River. Flows are up, but really not that high for May. 800-900 cfs up and down the canyons and into Reno. That's nothing for this time of year.  Still high enough to fish the edges. Trouts are not out in fast water, or middle of the river. They hold tight to the banks ,or in softer water. Feed them something they

Spring is here

by PYRAMID LAKE FLY FISHING
Spring is here. Look at the weather going forward and you will see warm, warm, warm. May is a month at the lake that is traditionally very tough. Even with the new techniques we are using it is tough. You have to have the weather. Wind, clouds, rain, whatever. If it is golfing weather, go play golf. Fish the first hour of the day for

The ranch is also fishing very well with both nymphs and streamers lately

by KENS SPORTING GOODS STAFF
The ranch is also fishing very well with both nymphs and streamers lately, there’s lots of good action down there on fish from 14 to 23 inches. Most of the same flies that are working on the Cali side will work on the ranch section plus they’re still eating some rubberlegs and some small stonefly nymphs as well. The trespass fees for the ranch have been

Wow, what an absolutely incredible season it was for Pyramid Lake

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
As we head into the very tail end of the season out here, this will be our last report on the “Big Salty Pond” for the year. Wow, what an absolutely incredible season it was for Pyramid Lake. The amount of large fish seen this year was unprecedented and we feel it’s important to give a huge shout out to the Pyramid Lake Piute Tribe for

We are in the rollercoaster ride of spring flows right now

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
We are in the rollercoaster ride of spring flows right now, seeing flows fluctuate 50-100 CFS any given day. These flows are peaking in the afternoon and dipping to their lowest points in the middle of the night. This is typical of any freestone this time of year and the fish know the routine, not often missing a beat to feed during these months. In

The LCT have another spawn in the books

by RENO FLY SHOP
The LCT have another spawn in the books, and even though we are still seeing shallow cruising fish, a lot of fish are returning to deeper water and actively feeding in deeper water. The last week, with its cold storm, has shocked the fish some, but with a return to seasonal temperatures next week the LCT should return to their normal behavior.  The surface temps before

The Truckee River has hovered around 600-700cfs at the Reno gauge over the last few weeks

by RENO FLY SHOP
The Truckee River has hovered around 600-700cfs at the Reno gauge over the last few weeks and finally jumped over 800 overnight. Fishing has remained good on the Nevada side and should continue to do so. With warmer air temperatures, the river will likely come up in flow and turbidity will increase as a result of low elevation snow melt.  There are a variety of bugs moving
