Nevada Fish Reports

Things are firing off on the Truckee River

by MATT KOLES
Things are firing off on the Truckee River. Great weather for Memorial Day weekend.  Heading right into Summer. June will be a great month. Warm weather, and perfect water temps. Lots of bugs out. Pretty much everything popping off. Will you get any good dry fly fishing? Probably not, but you will if you nymph. If you're lucky and we get some cloud cover then yeah,

Angler Report: Lake Tahoe

by FISH REPORTS STAFF
Lake Tahoe Fishing Report Date: April 30, 2025 Submitted by: Jason Report: Jason’s wife, Diana, caught two Mackinaw trout at Lake Tahoe—one weighed 25 pounds and the other 20 pounds. They tried to release both fish. The 20-pounder swam away just fine, but the bigger fish didn’t make it.

Days are getting warmer and warmer

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
The days are getting warmer and warmer, and we are seeing the flows come back up a bit on the Truckee this week. At the Farad USGS gauge, we are seeing flows creep back up over 1,000 CFS again this week. We are seeing half of the flows along Glenshire Drive right around, right at 500 CFS. Despite this significant difference, most sections are fishing

Trout fishing has been fair to good

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Expect muddy shorelines due to intermittent precipitation over the last few weeks. Trout fishing has been fair to good for fish in the 9″ range and should remain consistent with the spring stocking that occurred on 5/12/25. Bass and bluegill fishing will begin picking up with warmer weather forecasted over Memorial Day Weekend and into June. The water level is low so the boat ramp

Spring stocking has begun

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Harrison Pass is open. Spring stocking has begun with rainbow trout stocked in Unit 21 and South Lakes. Trout in the 15″ t0 20″ range are being caught in the collection ditch. Fly anglers are reporting success with dark-colored streamer patterns, as well as your favorite nymph pattern (pheasant tail, gold-ribbed hares ear, etc.). Trout will start hitting dry flies as the weather warms up.

The reservoir is full and spilling

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
The road to Wilson is drying out after a few weeks of intermittent precipitation. The reservoir is full and spilling. There is opportunity for open water fishing from the shorelines. Trout fishing has been good. PowerBait and worms or small flashy spinners should work for spin anglers, while small nymph, midge and leech patterns should work for fly anglers. Bass fishing remains slow but is

Fishing should be really good for spin and fly anglers

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
The Ash Canyon road to Hobart is open. Fishing should be really good for spin and fly anglers. Fly fisherman should expect good dry fly fishing with ants and callibaetis mayflies early in the day until the wind picks up. When the surface activity slows, a red copper john slowly retrieved or under an indicator is pretty hard to beat. Spin fisherman using small spinners

Riviera Marina Fishing Report

by RUSTY
We’ve got some great news for local anglers! There’s a solid run of stripers right now, and some trout are in the mix as well. Rotary Park has been freshly stocked with rainbow trout, making it an excellent spot to cast a line. Local angler Theresa Richardson recently landed a beautiful striper while fishing from shore along the Colorado River. Her catch weighed in at 4.58

Fishing will be difficult

by UTAH DIVISION OF WILDLIFE

The ranch has also been fishing very well as of late, both nymphing and with streamers

by KENS SPORTING GOODS STAFF
The ranch has also been fishing very well as of late, both nymphing and with streamers. The flows are great down there and most anglers are reporting good days with 20 to 15 fish to hand per day. There are a good number of reservations on the books in the coming weeks so if you have plans to fish the ranch try to give us

It has been an interesting spring weather wise to say the least

by RENO FLY SHOP
It has been an interesting spring weather wise to say the least. We seem to be in a cycle of a few warm days and then a cold storm system that follows. Snow melt has seemingly been slower this year, as has the LCT’s return to post spawn behavior.  Shallow Cutthroat still dot the shore consistently. Some fish are heading into deeper water and are accessible

The Truckee River flow has dropped to below 700 cfs at the Reno gauge

by RENO FLY SHOP
The Truckee River flow has dropped to below 700 cfs at the Reno gauge. This is a great flow to target fish from downtown up to the California state line. Earlier in the week, flows were up around 1,150 cfs but dropped due to the colder storms. Runoff seems to be happening at snails pace this year which is keeping the river in fishable shape

They’ve been eating better from shore

by PYRAMID FLY CO.
They’ve been eating better from shore, so that’s where we have continued to spend our time. Nice weather, the world’s largest cutthroat and good company. What else could you ask for?
