The fishing dock at Katherine's Landing produced some nice fish. The bluegill and largemouth bass/smallmouth bass bite has stepped up with the warm temperatures. There are reports of a few smallmouth bass being taken off the shelves in the coves above the power lines. Plastics and crank baits are working well in this area. Big news, trout are coming back with the first stocking the week of Sept. 12. This will be the first of several stockings planned for the area. Most people think anchovies are usually the best bait for the river for cats and stripers. Bob from Wisconsin landed some stripers in the 1-5 pound range fishing from shore. The National Park Service has been working to improve conditions at South Cove launch ramp, but 4x4 vehicles are recommended for launching/retrieving boats. Be sure to check out launch ramp area prior to launching. Be careful boating because of low water level, many new islands and near surface rocks have appeared. Not much has changed on the water over the past couple of weeks. Anglers are finding the best fishing away from shore, but striper action has been slow. Look for smallmouth bass in coves with vegetation and along shelves. No reports from Willow Beach or Cottonwood Cove.

Anglers continue to find early morning striper boils, though they are becoming less frequent. Overall, fishing has slowed in recent days. Windy conditions have made things rough but fishermen are finding some success for everything from catfish to black bass. Threadfin shad have been the most productive bait.

Decent flows through Glenshire to Boca outflow and good flows and better temps from Boca to Stateline. With the current flows concentrate your efforts in the deeper pools in the AM, move into the faster seams and riffles into the afternoon and then back into the pools in the evening when trout are feeding on the surface for Yellow Sallies, Caddis, and PED's.
