Squaw Creek Reservoir Fishing Report

by RB BASS
Squaw Creek Reservoir, located at the Comanche Peak Nuclear Power Plant between Glen Rose and Granbury, Texas is a clear and deep reservoir. The reservoir serves as the cooling source for two nuclear power units, and due to the warm water generated by the power plant, it is a very popular destination for cold weather fishing. The lake’s surface area is approximately 3,200 acres,

Pyramid Lake Report

by MATT KOLES
It’s cold in the high desert of Western Nevada this November. Feels like the Pyramid Lake everyone remembers.  Reno got almost a foot of snow yesterday and the drive out to the lake was a bit sketch. They probably haven’t seen that much snow-that low since ’11. Low pressures keep rolling in from AK, and that’s what you want for good fly fishing at Pyramid Lake.

Pyramid bite so-so

by NOR CAL FISH REPORTS
Bite has been on the slower side. Five fish larger than 10 pounds were weighed in last week. All but one came from shore. Three came from Pelican. Rough conditions have kept a lot of boats off the water. Crosby’s Lodge (775) 476-0400 GUIDES: George Molino 775-476-0555 Cutthroat charters; Joe Mendes Eagle Eye Charters – 775-574-0900

Big cutts biting at Pyramid

by NOR CAL FISH REPORTS
Wind has been dying off in the afternoon. Big fish of the week was a 19.12 pound cutt caught from a boat. Seventeen cutts larger than 10 pounds were weighed in last week, most were via boat or tube. Catches were spread all over the lake, but the north end seems best. Jigs have been productive. Crosby’s Lodge (775) 476-0400 GUIDES: George Molino 775-476-0555 Cutthroat

Good Fishing for Lake Trout

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Lake Tahoe is the place to be if you are fishing from a boat in northern Nevada. It may be one of the few places you still can launch a boat and catch a fish. Pyramid Lake Fish Report

by LIZ WEIRAUCH
An awesome opener. If you have a float tube or a pontoon boat, it's recommended so you can get to the bait balls. Fish are down about 25-35 depth. A lot of them were suspending anywhere between 6-19 below the surface . Minnow patterns, Egg sucking leaches. White and gold bugger, were certainly the go-to. If you only have a sink line, swing in and

Truckee River Update

by LIZ WEIRAUCH
Water flows are all over the map. Though haven't raised above 35 CFS. Water temps in the morning are running about 60 degrees. Unless you are in a highly oxygenated area, and the water temps are below 65 degrees, take your time on the release. Deaddrift crawfish, buggers, the standard sierra fare. Use a clear indicator if deaddrifting. If you do go, watch for the

Pyramid opener a winner

by NOR CAL FISH REPORTS
Biggest trout of opening week was a 20.4 pounder caught from a boat at Warrior. Pelican, Warrior were good spots. Trolling and jigging both accounted for fish but those in boats, pontoons or float tubes are doing far better than shore anglers. Some anglers caught and released up to 60 cutthroat. Pelican Point is the only launch point, but there were no problems. The surface

Good mack bite, slowing kokes at Tahoe

by NOR CAL FISH REPORTS
Mack bite has been very good for fish in the 3 to 8 pound class with some larger. Trolling over structure 120 to 180 feet deep gets fish. Kokanee will take jigs, but most are turning red. Mike Nielsen (530) 721-0593 www.tahoetopliners.com
