As of today, we are seeing the flows around Glenshire at 800+ CFS

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
As of today, we are seeing the flows around Glenshire at 800+ CFS, while the gauge at Farad is reading just under 1,000 CFS. The forecast is calling for typical spring temps of upper 50’s to low 60’s here in Truckee. We expect a slow, but continued ramp up of the flows on the river, which is ideal. Despite a great snowpack last year, the

The Truckee River has fished well over the last week and is starting to see an increase in flow. Warm spring temperatures are causing the snow at lower to mid elevations to melt. The Truckee has maintained a clarity of around 3-4’. Flows at the Reno gauge are hovering around 700-800 cfs but could rise or fall with air temperature over the coming days. Nymph fishing

Riviera Marina Fishing Report

by RUSTY
Well, this time it's my son Albert and me heading out for some river fishing. We're leaving the marina and making our way through the canal that leads to the Colorado River. This time of year, shore fishing is doing well. Anchovies are producing stripers, and swim baits are working too. I like using something in a trout pattern, but white and yellow are always great

Wildhorse is completely ice free and full

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Wildhorse is completely ice free and full. The State Park has put the boat dock in the water and the ramp is open. There is some debris in the water in the canyon towards the dam from a semi that wrecked onto the lake a few months back. We will be working on getting it cleaned up but caution should be used when boating in

The road to Wilson is clear and completely dry and the lake is full

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
The road to Wilson is clear and completely dry and the lake is full. There is opportunity for open water fishing from the shorelines. With the precipitation forecasted for this weekend, expect the road and shorelines to be a bit muddy. PowerBait and worms or small flashy spinners should work for spin anglers, while small nymph, midge and leech patterns should work for fly anglers.

Water temperatures are sitting in the low 40s

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
State Park staff has opened the main boat ramp for the season. Water temperatures are sitting in the low 40s. Spring stocking has begun with over 5,000 rainbow trout stocked last week.  Shoreline anglers are having the best luck with trout hitting orange PowerBait, or nymph, midge and leech patterns on a fly rod. Streamers are being hit hard off the dam. Below the dam,

Brown Trout and Lake Trout Action Heating up on Tahoe

by ROBERT VARIK
We had a strong start to the season with some nice action on Brown Trout. On the maiden voyage, we landed an impressive 8-pound Brown Trout, followed shortly by a 9-pound Lake Trout. Plenty of above-average Lake Trout are being caught, along with a few solid Brown Trout showing up as well. Overall, the bite is looking promising for early season fishing on the lake. Truckee River Fishing Report

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
When fishing during spring runoff, people often see the river as being too large and hard to fish. While it’s true that the river is larger, it also makes the fishable areas smaller. This means that the areas that fish can hold in are fewer and it makes it easier to know where they may be. This evens the playing field. Think about sections of

The fishing has picked up over the last couple weeks

by DOUG BUSEY
The fishing has picked up over the last couple weeks. Mainly from Zephyr Cove to Sand Harbor. A few other areas have been off the Tahoe shelf. Trolling J plugs or a dodger and a live minnow.  Raplas have also been productive from the Camp Rich area to Emerald bay. I recommend either the F11-F13 or a J11 rainbow or black and silver.
