by CAVE LAKE STATE PARK
Nevada Department of Wildlife stocked the lake with 3,400 rainbow trout this morning!     Fishing has been good but now it will be better, time to dust off the fishing gear and get out on the water!     Snag your fishing licenses online at   www.ndow.org

Water levels reached normal pool on 3/14/25

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
For the first time in nearly 6 years, Cave Lake is at capacity and spilling. Water levels reached normal pool on 3/14/25.  With recent storms, shoreline access will be muddy until the snow melts and everything begins to dry out.  Anglers can expect to catch hatchery-reared rainbow trout stocked into Cave Creek in June 2024 that ended up in Cave Lake as the water levels

Fishing is heating up. Spring is great time to be on the Truckee River

by MATT KOLES
I think Winter is officially over. Ended up with right around average snowfall for the season. Good news for the Truckee River, now, and into next Fall. Fishing is heating up. Spring is great time to be on the Truckee River.  Seeing skwala stones, some early caddis, blue wings, and waiting on the march browns. Nymph with the above. You may get lucky and get a good

It’s been an interesting few weeks since our last report

by RENO FLY SHOP
It’s been an interesting few weeks since our last report. We hit a high of 76° mid last week followed by a cold front that dropped snow on the valley floor. This has water temps going up and down which can impact the consistency of fishing.  We are starting to see some signs of spawning behavior (I.e. shallow cruising fish, trout with fungus along their bodies)

Truckee River Fishing Report

by RENO FLY SHOP
The Truckee River also changed since our last report. The storm last weekend cooled wanter temps off significantly and seemingly had the fish move to slower water. We were finding them but mostly in slower edges and a bit deeper than last week. The trend has the water warming and we believe this will continue with warmer air temps. Looking forward at the weather forecast we

Pyramid Lake has benefited from the last few winters and the water conditions at the lake are great

by PYRAMID LAKE FLY FISHING
The latest storm that passed through the area left a bunch of snow. Our late season storm track has finally put the Sierra snowpack over 100%. The weather is about to take a monster turn towards spring and some really warm weather is going to melt this snow pretty fast. The area streams will most likely be blown out for a bit now. Keep an

We are seeing a lot of fish school up in shallow water

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
While we are seeing a lot of fish school up in shallow water and become mostly lock-jawed as they head into spawn, this week’s storm has turned the bite back on for a few short days. Conditions earlier this week were fantastic. We would bet dollars to doughnuts that the warm days expected early next week will slow this bite to a near crawl and

The Truckee continued to fish well through this last storm

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
The Truckee continued to fish well through this last storm and we expect it to stay that way for the near future. This last late-season storm is great to see, helping bolster our late season snowpack and will only help the cause for those imminent hot mid-summer days. Once we see some consistently warm weather, the run off should be quick to follow and the

The lake continues to fish well

by THE FLY SHOP
The lake continues to fish well and should be a good place to get a good chance at a large dinosaur trout. Windy conditions can have the fish stack up, keep your head on a swivel for the best locations to target the school. Indicator nymphing with Balanced Leeches and Chironomids are producing the most consistent right now, but stripping Popcorn Beetles, Midnight Cowboys, or

2nd Annual Save Comins Lake Pike-Out

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Attention Anglers! Mark your calendars for the 2nd Annual Save Comins Lake Pike-Out in Ely, NV! We are calling on anglers to volunteer to fish out as many Northern Pike from Comins Lake as we can. The ranch has also been fishing very well

by KENS SPORTING GOODS STAFF
The ranch has also been fishing very well with most of the reports coming in from happy anglers. The East is running at about 75 cfs today

by KENS SPORTING GOODS STAFF
The East is running at about 75 cfs today, the flows have been fluctuating quite a bit lately but so far most of the changes up and down have not been too significant. The fishing is still doing very well with most days anglers reporting having 10 to 20 fish days, it seems as though there has been a couple poor days over the last

The lake has not risen over the last week or so

by DOUG BUSEY
The lake has not risen over the last  week or so. The boat launch at Douglas Park is open with all three ramps in. The fish cleaning station is open, but the water is not on yet. I counted 26 boats on the water last Sunday at 9am. By 12 pm there were only a handful still fishing. Those anglers reaped the benefits when the

Starting to see the beginnings of ice off on the reservoir

by WILD HORSE STATE RECREATION AREA
Good morning everyone! We are starting to see the beginnings of ice off on the reservoir, finally! We are still a few weeks out, but that is weather dependent. However, we are starting to see more shore fishing opportunities for those interested. Penrod and Hendricks inlets are both open enough for shore fishing currently. The ice is slowly receding from the shoreline, but not yet

Pyramid Lake Fishing Report

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
The bite at Pyramid has been pretty hot and cold recently. The overcast and windy days are still providing some steady action for both the indicator or when stripping. On sunny days there is a lot of time spent between bites, which can still be a lot of fun as long as you’ve surrounded yourself with good company! We are seeing a good number of

The past week of fishing on the Truckee was excellent

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
The past week of fishing on the Truckee was excellent. We were fishing in sun hoodies and casting all the way until dark comfortably. Needless to say, this really made us look forward to the coming months. The water stayed mostly clear even though Truckee hit the mid-60’s and Reno in the low-70’s. As expected, we saw a good smattering of skwalas along the entire

Expect soft and muddy shorelines
