Nevada Fish Reports

The Sceirine fished excellent this past week

by KENS SPORTING GOODS STAFF
The Sceirine fished excellent this past week with anglers reporting great days with streamers and nymphs. Most of the anglers we got reports from reported 10 to 15 fish per half day with several in the bunch being in the 20+ range as well as a couple large rainbows that taped around 25”. With the higher flows and slightly warmer weather the fish are very

Midges are fishing the best right now by far

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
Yet another great week during the best month of what is considered the best year of recent memory. Do we need to say anymore? If you aren’t fishing out here right now, you should be! With a week of stormy days, the bite should be excellent throughout most of the week. Midges are fishing the best right now by far. We have been fishing more 2

Truckee River Fishing Report

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
While we expect the flows to remain  the same after this incoming storm, we do anticipate the temps to continue to drop with nighttime temps into the teens later this week. The drop in water temperature will make afternoons the best time to get on the water. We are still waiting on the Skwalas to really start up. While nymphing them has been putting some

What a difference a storm system makes

What a difference a storm system makes. A bit of cloud cover and wind make a world of difference.

It pays off when you come out for a few days

by PYRAMID FLY CO.
It pays off when you come out for a few days. The first two days we had bluebird weather in the 60s. We caught fish but it was slow. Day 3 the lake showed off a bit in the weather and the fish came out to play.

False Spring, now Winter is back at least for awhile on the Truckee River

by MATT KOLES
False Spring, now Winter is back at least for awhile on the Truckee River.  Good, because we need 2-3 big storm cycles this month. Then I think we'll be set up water wise pretty well for Summer. Meteorological Spring is here. This is a fun time on the Truckee River. I always like Spring as the whole river fishes well. We always get our biggest fish in

The lake continues to fish well this week

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
Whenever we think to ourselves “It can’t stay this good all season”, we are happily proven wrong. The lake continues to fish well this week, at least on the overcast and stormy days. When the fish begin to come in shallow and school up in their pre-spawn behavior, the storm systems will be far less important, and the fishing will be good most days. Typically, these

We are currently seeing very good fishing conditions on the river

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
We are currently seeing very good fishing conditions on the river. Flows are right around, or slightly above average for this time of year and the water is holding just that perfect level of tint. We are likely to see low and warm water later in the year and this spring will certainly be the best time to fish any freestone rivers like the Truckee. While

The lake level has gone up a couple feet

by DOUG BUSEY
The lake level has gone up a couple feet. The water temp was 47 degrees and the weather on Wednesday was perfect with no "W". The fishing was a little slow to start. Renee and I trolled most of the lake with all of our hits coming in on the east side.  We trolled various colors and sizes of Raplalas deep and shallow. We managed

The water levels were recently lowered to repair the low-level outlet in November

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
The water levels were recently lowered to repair the low-level outlet in November. The water has recovered nicely and there should be decent shoreline fishing along most of the reservoir. The reservoir was not stocked this fall due to the draw down.  Normal stocking efforts should resume in the spring.

Comins Lake has approximately 95 percent open water

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Comins Lake has approximately 95% open water.  There is one larger chunk of ice in the narrows separating the north lake and south lakes, limiting boat access to just the north lake.  Anglers can shoreline fish the northern portion of the lake or even launch a boat (dock will go in later this spring) and troll for trout and Northern Pike.  Decent size trout continue

The only remaining ice is on the south end near the creek inlet

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Illipah Reservoir has 85% open water.  The only remaining ice is on the south end near the creek inlet.  Anglers can access nearly the entire western shoreline and can even launch a boat and access most of the lake.  Recent angler contacts revealed rainbow trout in the 11-to-13 inch range being caught, with an occasional brown trout being caught.

Riviera Marina Fishing Report

by RUSTY
Hey, it's me again! I landed these fish using a Panther Martin spinner, yellow with red spots. I really like this one—it works well in our area. When fishing for trout, spinners are fun, and anglers have a lot of choices. Some work great, while others that might work in lakes just can’t seem to get the trout to bite. If your lure isn’t catching

Ruby Lake is almost entirely ice-free

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Ruby Lake is almost entirely ice-free. The collection ditch is mostly ice-free and fishing should be fair to good for trout. Fishing will pick up when the spring stockings occur. All areas of the Refuge are accessible. Harrison Pass is open, but requires four wheel drive due to mud and snow. Special Regulations: Artificial lures only in the collection ditch. Minimum size for black bass is

This season has been incredible so far

by PYRAMID LAKE FLY FISHING
This season has been incredible so far. Way better than the last two or three years up to this date in the season. It really does not make a lot of sense because the fish that we are catching were alive and well somewhere in the lake then also, they have just shown up more this season. It’s a big lake. The bad thing about
