Fishing has been light along this stretch of the river.??The most caught species right now is carp, which can be good eating, and catfish.?? Bread dough balls work well for both.

Rumors are that the striped bass have moved further south in the lake.??There are reports of stripers taking anchovies or jumping minnows, most around three pounds, just south of Cottonwood Cove.??Catfish are biting on anchovies or hot dogs in the backs of coves.??

Rainbow trout plants took place this past week at Floyd Lamb, Lorenzi, Sunset, and Boulder City ponds. The fish usually take powerbait, nightcrawlers or small lures. Using smaller hooks, such as size 10 or 12 usually produce more success.

The ice is holding at about eight to nine inches thick, but there are some thin spots, so use extreme caution when venturing onto the ice. Anglers are finding good action with using green or orange PowerBait as well as shrimp. In addition to rainbow trout averaging 11 to 13 inches in length, anglers also are catching brown trout and tiger trout.

One third of the lake has open water while the rest has a thin layer of ice. Fishing is possible off the dam and anglers have done well using PowerBait or night crawlers.

Action has been light but anglers are catching a few catfish in the area near Sunshine Peninsula with most taking anchovies. It's a good time to try out various baits and lures, and possibly a new fishing hole, as the river offers multiple species for an angler to catch.

Anglers have had a difficult time locating the striped bass following the full moon. Those using fish finders are finding mostly small schools of fish. Larger schools are down deep.
