The flows on the Truckee continue to be very consistent from Tahoe City through Reno. Most of the water is still coming out of Lake Tahoe. The ranch is fishing excellent, the same patterns as on the Cali side have been working down there as well. I would also recommend mornings and evenings and skipping the mid-day when the sun is high and hot.

Been good in the mornings, crappy in the afternoons. Dog days of summer? Yes, and no. If you hit it early and fish the right kind of water you'll have success. If you cruise out there at 2 in the afternoon, you'll be a bit bummed. Both the Cali, and Nevada side of the river are fishing good. Fish have got crayfish, stones, and caddis

Been lagging a little on the posts mostly because it's been a busy week. I've had friends in town, guiding, bbq's, summertime Truckee kind of stuff. The river is good if you get out there in the mornings, shitty in the afternoons, and descent in the evenings. Crays, stones, caddis, sallys, put them in your fly box if you want success on the Truckee River.

The ranch is fishing excellent and there's definitely less pressure than on other parts of the river. Pheasant tails, copper johns, hopper/dropper rigs and dead drift crayfish have all been producing some very nice fish.

Heading in to our third week of July the river is in great shape. Flows are still up out of Tahoe for the booze crew, and above 500 cubes in the Hirsch and below. Perfect. My buddy Morten from Norway made it up to Truckee for a few days. Not really sure if Vikings are from Norway, but I know he likes Whale meat. He catches some big ass Atlantic Salmon back home on the two handers, so tackling some Truckee trout wasn't a problem. We lost some nice fish and caught some small ones, typical Truckee River style. Stoked

The Ranch has been fishing well this week too, lots of nice fish being caught on dry/dropper rigs as well as nymphs. You can go with chubby chernobyls and madam-x's on top and for nymphs and droppers go with blood midges, copper johns, princes, pheasant tails and birds nests.

Damn fine my friends, the fishing that is, here on the Truckee River. It's been great on the Cali side in the mornings. If you're fishing the right water, you will be on fish. The Sceirine has been fishing very well this week, lots of nice 20+ inch rainbows being caught. Some browns down there lately, but mostly bows. Dead-drift crayfish, soft hackles, pheasant tails, various caddis nymphs and dry/dropper rigs have all been doing well.
