Recent thunderstorms have resulted in washed out roads and debris covered parking areas, but some anglers have made their way to Willow Beach. Check conditions before making the drive. The trout bite has been sporadic with shore anglers finding some success with a variety of baits from plastic worms to spinners to PowerBait. Topwater action is heating up. Anglers have been taking fish in the areas near Sand Island, Government Wash and Boxcar Cove. Most are smaller fish in the one- to two-pound class. Shad have moved in along the Boulder Beach area and this should improve fishing opportunities for shore fishermen. Catfish have been taking bait near Vegas Wash, and anglers have been catching some largemouth bass

North Shore Lake Fish Report 07-26-07

Gene St. Denis of Blue Ribbon Charters and Tahoe Trophy Trout at South Lake Tahoe, Calif. (530-544-6552): We have been trolling 50-240 feet deep. We locate the fish on the fish finder and then troll in a "Figure Eight" pattern, bouncing the bottom. I've been fishing at Cal-Neva, Dollar Point and Sugar Pine Points.

Gene St. Denis: I've been fishing 50-200 feet deep at Ski Run Shelf, Camp Richardson and the Tahoe Keys. Trolling with silver Herring Dodger flasher blades and minnows. Bouncing off the bottom in a serpentine pattern. Macks are 2-7 pounds.

East Carson River Fish Report 07-26-07

Todd Sodaro and Chad Machado of the Carson River Resort (877-694-2229): Sunday, it was about 85 degrees with a nice breeze. On the 18th, Lucas and Ray Taroli of Oregon used Salmon eggs and nightcrawlers to catch 7 rainbows that totaled 20 pounds. On the 19th, a youngster, "Junior," used Salmon eggs to catch 4 rainbows. Brian Arline of Roseville caught a 4.8 pound rainbow

Dennis Dunn, Mark, Rocket and Scott at the Wild Horse Resort (775) 758-6472: We have a huge fire north of us, that has burned 750,000 acres, so far. It is about 10 miles north of the reservoir. There are no fishermen here, but the fishing is still excellent, both from shore or in boats. The perch, trout and bass are all hitting.

Fly fishing remains very good on the Truckee. The flows remain perfect from the Town of Truckee down toReno. The best times to fish are in the mornings before it gets hot and then again the last hour or two before dark. In the mornings, nymphing has been the best. Try indicator nymphing with a Golden Stone and a small dropper like a Caddis Pupa.

Knott Creek Fish Report 07-23-07

Reports have been outstanding. 20 to 50 fish days are not uncommon for those who frequent Knott Creek. Indicator Nymphing with size 18 midges is working well but the Damsel hatch has been the draw. Fish Damsel nymphs right under the surface with a slow strip and a floating line. Mornings have been best.
