Regional Game Warden Dave Patula Regional reports plenty of success fishing for rainbow planters and hold over trout.

Dave Patula, regional game warden, reports plenty of recently planted rainbow being caught and some hold over rainbow. Some reports of Bullhead catfish and Large Mouth Bass. Tactics include Powerbait, worms and flies.

Dave Patula, regional game warden, reports fishing was good for both hold over rainbows from last year in the 14-inch range and planters. There was additional action fishing for Small Mouth with top water bass baits.

Truckee river fishing has been excellent. Fly anglers have been successful using Stone Flies, bead head prince nymphs and hares ears copper Johns and Flying Ant patterns. Fish the bottom bounce. Bait fisherman try bouncing eggs. The flows have dropped considerably since May, much easier to wade now. The flow is 381 cfs as 6/1/07.

Fishing is good and water level is staring to drop. Fishing should be good up until Late July. Check out stocking report for latest updates. The flow is 422cfs as 5/1/07.

Western Region Biologist Reid Varble reports fishing has slowed down, but some action is good toward the mouth of the river. Boat anglers should try trolling in this area. Trollers are using Repala's in brown and silver colors. Also some are catching trolling a Worm Harness. Bank fishermen have been successful using powerbait in orange color.

Spooner has been fishing well bank anglers report success in areas clear of weeds. Try getting out into the middle of the lake for more action. Castmasters and Blue Foxes have worked well. Fort Churchill ponds have been fishing well for catfish and Bass. Rubber baits such as root beer colored lizards have been working for the bass.

Big Springs Reservoir is filling, looks good for the future.

Jim French reports Bilk Creek reservoir has been good for planted rainbow.

Boat anglers are generally finding fish 25 feet below the surface and are doing well locating fish and fishing frog or trout colored torpedoes

Gene St. Denis: Fishing has been good early in the mornings. I've been fishing 50-200 feet deep at Ski Run Shelf. Trolling with silver Herring Dodger flasher blades and minnows. Bouncing off the bottom in a serpentine pattern. We caught browns 5-7 pounds and Mackinaw 7-14 pounds.

Andy at The Gilly Sporting Goods Store: Flows are low. Fishing is OK. There is a Caddis and Mosquito hatch late in the afternoon. Fish behind the riffles.

Todd Sodaro and Chad Machado of the Carson River Resort (877-694-2229): Fishing last weekend was the best I've ever seen here. Joshua Hammitt, age 6, of Galt, Calif. caught a 4-pounder and a 3.2 pounder. His sister, Victoria, age 8, caught a 4.9 pounder. Their fish were caught on nightcrawlers on May 27. Dave Kirby: The river had a plant of 1,000 pounds of rainbows on Wednesday by Alpine County. There were lots of people at every hole where they planted. Those holes are probably fished out by now.

Renie Busey of Douglas caught two 3.2 pound rainbows over the weekend.

Chuck and Linda Fields at the Topaz Lake Marina (775-266-3550): Last weekend was the less amount of people that I've seen in my 15 years out here. Not that many fishermen, water skiers and jet skis. I think it is probably due to a combination of high gas prices and the Topaz Lodge being closed. The trollers (Needlefish lures) and still fishermen (nightcrawlers) did good

Missy at Burke's Market at Silver Springs (775-577-2750): I'm estimating that there were 20,000 people. There were huge crowds everywhere. Lots of people were fishing and the fishing was awesome, especially on Monday. Lots of Wipers. There was a Channel Catfish over 30 inches long and a Largemouth Bass that was 2.5 pounds.
