The Truckee River has fished increasingly well with water levels dropping. The Truckee River at the Reno Gauge is hovering between 1,000-1,200 CFS. This flow provides a good opportunity for fishing and should lead into a fun summer on the river.  Our summer hatches have begun arriving daily. It's striper season, and they're getting larger. Local angler Mike Jones recently landed a couple of nice-sized stripers near the Parkway Bridge. This fishing spot is becoming more popular and is yielding a few good catches. The Ranch has been fishing excellent lately, lots of nice fish up to the 22” range have been being caught down there. The Truckee saw a significant drop in flows along the entire river system this week. Looking at the various gauging stations in the local creeks, it appears most of the drop in flows come from the smaller seasonal creeks as opposed to whatever is controlled by dams. This drop from 1,200 CFS to 750 CFS around Glenshire in under a week is a good indicator

Our local angler, Mike Merrit, is featured with a nice catch of recently planted rainbow trout. He was fishing from shore at Rotary Park using power bait to land his limit of five trout. These fish, brought in from Colorado, help manage the caddis fly issue and provide angling opportunities. Word has it that the striper bite is good near the casinos, Community Park, and
