The best fishing on the Truckee River is around Glenshire drive. Anglers should fish their winter setup. Some recommended flies for the Truckee River are san juan worms, small blue winged olives, small dry flies, or small midges size 18-20. The calm before the storm on the Truckee River. It just takes one big storm cycle for us to get back in the drivers seat. Things were pretty bleak, snow wise, back in November. Mother Nature saved us back in October, and she looks to do it again next week. A little cold duster yesterday, and now cold temps and definitely feeling like a Truckee December.

Rainbow trout anglers are choosing PowerBait over spinners. Striper action is being reported near Davis Dam and Big Bend State Recreation Area. Ned rigs with white worms or bone-colored topwater lures are both working well for fish up to 10 pounds.

Anglers are finding striped bass at various depths across Mohave. Some are catching stripers and smallmouth bass by trolling swimbaits at speeds less than 5 m.p.h. Most smallies are being found in the southern part of the Cottonwood Basin and near Katherine Landing. Catfish are taking smelly corn or chicken livers near vegetation after dark.

Hope all is well, we are getting some great fishing in our area's waters. The Topock Marsh area has been producing a few Largemouth Bass along with an occasional striper or catfish. Our local angler Dayton Grant was fishing off of his boat and landed a nice 3.42-pound Largemouth bBass at 19 and 1/4 inches. Dayton was using a Z-mans chatter bait to boat this fish.

The California side of the EW is closed until April 30, 2022 I haven’t heard much from the Nevada side of the EW, just 1 or 2 reports that were just ok. This time of the year with the low flows it’s best to try small midge and nymph patterns and focus on the deeper pools and runs where there will be more fish hanging out.
